Why This Must Be Read: The Divide'verse series is 4 sequential stories, a total of about 23,000 words, in which [personal profile] vain_glorious  has flipped canon, and John's the runner who's lost everything, found offworld by Ronon who's a military unit leader from a thriving Sateda which hasn't been culled. The author weaves in typical canon plot lines, but reversed - John joins Ronon's unit, and as below, Tyre has Ford's role, and later there's a scare with Kirsan fever. I love this series as we see Sateda's culture in detail - similar to but different from Earth, technologically advanced and complex. I'm a sucker for Satedan worldbuilding, and this series really delivers. The story of John slowly recovering and making Sateda his home in his own quirky way is gripping and satisfying, with some lovely found family feels with Ronon and Melena. The series is marked WIP but there's good closure at the end, and it's complete as it is. I also love the way this reversal brings home the horror of what Ronon went through, in a much more powerful way than canon ever managed.

Why This Must Be Read: This story is an AU version of the Star Trek: the Next Generation episode "The Chase" that incorporates a mind bending crossover with Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis.  If I say much more than that, it will spoil everything.  There is also a tag to this story called "Reboot (Legacy)", which makes for a two story series, just follow the link at the bottom of the story to the next work.

Why This Must Be Read: It's Radek and Ziva on a little adventure pre-series for both shows (well, it's Ziva rescuing Radek and kind of the other way around as well). This is short, sweet and humorous, and all based on a line from episode 4 of season 3 of NCIS about Ziva having been an Eastern European cabdriver in a previous life. This is the perfect lunchtime snippet to make you grin before heading back into the rest of the workday.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a favourite of mine, also known as "the WAFGON fic". (Summary: Technically, it’s known as Operation Phoenix, but that’s a little too optimistic for Jack, who calls it the WAFGON plan: We’re All Fucked; Get Out Now.)
Earth is lost to a combination of the Ori and the Trust, but Atlantis goes on, and survivors from Earth trickle in by various routes. As with all apocafic it's a tough premise, but the writing's excellent with our favourite characters struggling to adapt to, survive and escape after the catastrophe, making it a gripping read.

Why This Must Be Read: This story was written back toward the beginning of it all, and is one of the very first on-world action/adventure stories I encountered, way back then, in which a Goa'uld threat is found on Earth ... and in fact this one is the very first story I ever read that used the premise and setting of an archaeological dig site as being the source of that threat. All these years later, I still remember how new to me the concept was (at that time), and how much I enjoyed it. Having re-read it recently and discovering that I still like it every bit as much as before (especially the bit with the rings), I decided to rec it here, in case some of you out there have never heard of or read some of the golden-oldies such as this. I hope you like it.

Why This Must Be Read:
This was another classic that was recced more than 10 years back but the links unfortunately goes to neverland. So get ready for a crossover with UST, conspiracies, amnesia!fic (Daniel lost his memory again!), Tony Dinozzo, car chases novella.

Gibbs and his team are called in for an unusual murder case, and the only witness is a man handcuffed to a chair surrounded by dead men and implements of torture. The only problem? An unfortunate case of amnesia: he can't remember a thing. The team take him into protective custody as a material witness, while they try to help "John" (Doe) jog his memory. The problem is, the only flashes of memory he *does* have include watching a large, deadly firefight which includes a pyramid shaped "Spaceship."

I am not a big fan of NCIS but by the time the fic was over (and it's a fairly long fic), I find myself reaching for the Netflix channel. The plot is good and solid, the descriptions fascinating, and I can see why both the Stargate Fan Awards and the NCIS FanFic Awards voted this fic top Crossover.

Why This Must Be Read: I am torn about recommending this story because not only is this part of a series where only the third story "Secrets" is an SG1 crossover, it is also the only unfinished story in the series (holding at 22 chapters since 2008).

Unfortunately, this story may not make much sense unless you start at the beginning which is pretty daunting task considering the first story clock slightly less than 75,000 words.

Despite all the drawbacks, it is still worth checking it out. It is hilarious but the high levels of vulnerability and strength doesn't show down the fun bits.

In a nutshell, it is a long Xander/Faith-centric crossovers with Law and Order:SVU, Alias and Stargate SG-1 (plus a few oddballs like Gilmore Girls, no, I'm not kidding) work ridiculously logically and with really wonderful characterization (including an adorable gang of OC Slayers and some Watchers) and dialogue.

Even to those of us not terribly familiar with the crossover elements, this will still make you laugh, cry, introspective and then laugh again.

So don't be daunted by the length, take the leap of faith and jump in.

Why This Must Be Read: This story features young archaeology student Daniel meeting MacGyver while in Egypt on a dig. MacGyver's been asked to investigate some thefts (not that he tells Daniel that or anything). Young Daniel is snarky, smart and carries a chip on his shoulder the size of the Great Pyramid. The interactions between him and MacGyver are hilarious and so much fun. The plot itself is also interesting and JaneDavitt does a great job of not revealing too much too soon. The story also ties in nicely into the Stargate universe. But mostly it's a fun ride.

Why This Must Be Read: Over the years SG-1 has encountered hundreds of interesting people and I just love it when an author remembers one of those characters and utilizes them in a story. In this one, it's Aris Boch the intrepid bounty hunter. Oops, sorry, former intrepid bounty hunter. There is another, brief, cameo but I'll leave their identity to be a surprise. The heart of the story, however, is most definitely Daniel. And it's my favourite kind of Daniel: the one who's determined to do whatever he can to help save innocent lives no matter the potential cost to himself. Even when it means keeping secrets from his team and potentially alienating Jack for good. The premise of the story is rather intriguing and, while the Goa'uld responsible never actually makes an appearance, his 'servant' more than makes up for that.

Author's summary: Daniel goes undercover to diffuse a deadly situation on a benign planet.

Why This Must Be Read: I love Chaka: I loved the episode in which he first appeared and I cheered each time he showed up on the show. When I saw that this story had Daniel/Chaka as a pairing I just had to read it. It's a simple story, with something of a plot that, interestingly/amusingly enough, shows us both Daniel's and Chaka's side of events. My favourite part of this story is that Glacis has done a great job of not forgetting that Chaka's not human: his entire interaction with Daniel is flavoured with this 'otherness'. Including a rather interesting, er, compatability issue.

Why This Must Be Read: There are so many reasons why this story should be read, not the least of which is Mhalachai's amazing writing. Mhalachai does a wonderful job setting up what should be a rather awkward crossover, yet makes it seem effortless. The pacing is perfect and, best of all, other than the sudden existence of the supernatural, this isn't really an AU story, not entirely. The author even slips in a reason as to why we don't see any were-creatures in the SGC (done just as seamlessly as everything else in this story).
The main reason this should be read, however, aren't the vampires and werewolves. It's clone Jack. This is possibly the best rendition of the character I've ever read. He's recognizably Jack, but in a restrained way as he tries (and fails) not to bring attention to himself. He's a little bit bitter, a lot sarcastic and can't help but look at his fellow students and think that they're the same age Charlie would've been if he hadn't died. And even further underneath that is the battle-hardened soldier, the one that only hesitates for a moment before going after a friend who's been kidnapped by werewolves. Watching others react to clone Jack as they struggle to figure him out is just as entertaining as Jack's reactions to everything around him.
The only major flaw to this story is that there is, sadly, no follow-up.

There are fun games where SG-1 and the Tok'ra are reluctant participants. Will out heroes win Sam and Freya/Anise (the latter two decides to take on the challenge themselves, thank you very much). Geeky!Sam's confidence blossoms once she is away from her abusive soon-to-be-ex fiance and her smarmy, pompous manager. And just like in every AU/timeline we've seen on-screen, there's some undeniable attraction between Sam and Jack, and Magickmoons builds the romance slow and sweet. Great characterization for everyone, especially for Jack who is competent and not at all as dumb as he likes to pretend.
