Why this must be read: Another viagra fic. Because they're funny. And Jennghis Khan's story is the funniest of them all. So so wonderfully awkward and embarrassing and somehow totally believable. Probably because contrary to so many characterizations out there- Sam and Jack aren't perfect people whose first time is going to be with rose petals out on a... beach... or whatever. (Well maybe- what the hell do I know? :S) In fact, Jack is very much the opposite of perfect and more of a... PSA commercial in the making... when he accepts Daniel's mailbox sample of Cialis... But then of course hilarity ensues. And sex. Much of it.

Why this must be read: Saturday night smut because... well, why the hell not? :D. Kirsty841 is an excellent, excellent author. As the summary says, this is a play on the power and control dynamics between Sam and Jack, who are officially together but their relationship is still under wraps. The whole 'commanding officer' kink is certainly not rare in SG fics, but this author just played it up and excelled at it. It's smut, yea, but I don't think it's just about the sex, there's a lot said between the lines. There are sequels to this.

Why this must be read: This is a story you will never forget. It has everything what makes reading enjoyable: beautiful narration, natural progression and build up of emotions, great insight into both characters (although it's told from John's point of view), amazingly written emotions and on top of that very hot smut. The author handles John just beautifully, and he is everything we want him to be, and still the story is realistic in showing his weaknesses. Reading this is a pure joy and after you're done, you might want there was more or go back to the beginning.

Why This Must Be Read: Written for the

notjustclosets challenge, where writers are assigned an episode and must realistically write S/W smut into an episode-related fic. It produced a lot of gems. This fic is for Intruder and casts both SGA and SG-1, and it's freakin' hilarious. I love the lighthearted tone as John and Elizabeth keep getting caught making out in SGC by various SG-1 personel. Vala and Cameron's reaction especially is priceless.

Coitus interruptus with a sense of humor. ;) Poor John and Elizabeth. Bwahaha.

Why This Must Be Read: Because it's the best fic I've ever read.

Prepare yourself for a rollercoaster ride. This novel-length fic is... wow, I'm not quite sure where to even begin. It's marvelously well-written, with a grand scope of players, though it's Elizabeth's POV. All the characters are represented and get to shine, and perhaps the best thing about it - despite it being vastly AU, they all have appropriate roles and are pitch-perfect in character. Each one of them is flawed and vulnerable, yet kick ass and strong. The premise of this AU is supernatural - kinda like a mix of Buffy and the Anita Blake vampire books, but then again,

irony_rocks sets up her own world with its own rules. I find all things supernatural very cool, but here, bringing the Atlantis characters into a supernatural setting just somehow works in a way that shouldn't. The entire world and social structure that Irony_rocks builds is amazingly deep and complex.

The characters are all well-written. Elizabeth is vulnerable as she tries to isolate herself from the rest, and oddly despite the setting the story hits a lot of S4 themes regarding her character. John is just... gorgeous and stubborn and hot-tempered. And just plain hot. Rodney is as loveable and awesome as always. Teyla kicks ass more than anybody else. Ronon has a major part to play in this fic instead of just playing second-fiddle to everybody like he usually does in fics.

Then there's other people you wouldn't expect to see: Marshall Sumner, breathed into life like we never really had a chance to see onscreen. Michael Kenmore, and we've even got some great parts played by Caldwell and Cameron Mitchell. I think one of the most entertaining parts of reading this fic was seeing how

irony_rocks was going to cast the roles. She has a wonderful gift for creating plausible-yet-out-there AUs.

If you're a fan of AUs, read this fic. Action/Adventure. Romance (hot smut, omg. But this is Irony_Rocks, so that should surprise no one). Drama. Mystery. A rollercoaster ride that's worth every cliff-hanger and twist and turn.

Why This Must Be Read: Simple, beautiful and stunning. I really wish I could describe the quality of

anr's writing adequately, but any words I use would fail to do justice. Her writing is moving. It's just amazing how she gets into their heads and matches it with this gorgeous prose, because a simple sentence in her story has deep meaning.

Gorgeously angsty and shippy and very much in-character. In the aftermath of a Wraith attack, John and Elizabeth do damange control. But the emotional kind, one that we very rarely get to see explored on the show. I love the realism of the attack and the aftermath she depicts. Great exploration of their guilt and exhaustion, and the characterization is, as always with Anr, flawless. I love the subtle, romantic tone of the fic: the quiet friendship that leads oh-so-naturally to something more, and then the ending.

Why This Must Be Read: This story was recced to me as "multipairing," and if I had known it was going to end up going into foursome territory, I would not have read it. For some reason, the idea of foursomes or OT4 is fundementally too out there for me. I tend to think you can't make a romantic relationship work with so many people. But this story? Holy freakin' crap. I am eternally glad I read it because it builds the pairings one at a time. It sells you the progression of their evolving relationships. I am in awe of this writer, because this story isn't about sex (though it has some). It's about connection, and evolution, and finding family when you've lost others.

Let me warn people right now: It's not completely linear in the beginning, because it starts off with Teyla's death. But Teyla's presence is woven in through the entire story, in stunning flashbacks and in the hole she leaves behind among Atlantis. I know this is a rec for Elizabeth Weir catagory, but really, this is a character piece of everyone because it explores the entire cast and their dynamics wonderfully. Mutliple POVs, and everybody gets equal loving and exploration.

It made a OT4 believer out of me, and that? I thought impossible. Long, plotty, with great charactization. I cannot recommend this enough, especially to people that don't usually go for this type of fic. Read a few paragraphs, and trust me, you'll be hooked by the writing.

Why This Must Be Read: I'll tell you one thing - the name is slightly misleading. Yes, technically, Cameron doesn't lose his pants but, um, there still manages to be really hot porn and if there's more to life than that? I don't want to know it. This is PWP of the absolute best kind. You've got characterization, a hint of background plot to explain how this pairing came about in the first place, and then... yeah, just hotness.

In the words of many fangirls, there needs to be more Cameron/Weir in the world. ;)

sga_santa 2006, and really, it's so beautiful written. The description of the ritual is so precise, that you can visualize it in your head really easily. It deals with the aftermath of the expedition taking back Atlantis and things going back to what they were before all this.

Why This Must Be Read: Sparky fans write ~~an obscene amount of~~ plenty Alternate Realities/Universes fics that cast the SGA characters into new roles/positions. From international spies down to the wild west, there's awe-worthy AUs left and right in the Sparky corner of the universe.

Miera, here, writes an AU story about an alternate version of Elizabeth Weir and John Sheppard meeting as undergraduates at a university in Boston, Massachusetts. There's Rodney, Radek and Carson too, playing a wonderful supporting cast as John's roommates. This story is absolutely great to read because it's lighthearted and grin-inducing. College!John is so adorable, you just kinda want to eat him up. I love the way Miera writes them both perfectly in character despite the fact that they're both vastly out of place in comparison to their roles in SGA. Plus, Miera pokes fun at Lucius Lavan, and who doesn't love that?

It's a great exploration of the evoling relationship, when they're both still awkward undergrads, and it's a fun a ride. ;)

Why This Must Be Read: Another post-Lifeline fic that explores the dark implications of what could have happened to Elizabeth in Oberoath's clutches. It's chilling, and beautifully written. I especially admire writer's who can make the stories as much about the way it's told than about what's being told. The language is a part of the story, and Sugargroupie's prose is wonderful and moving.

This story perfeclty exudes Elizabeth's strengths, too, as well as her weaknesses. It pulls no punches. I love the interaction she has in here with all the characters - John, most of all, but there's glimpses of Teyla and Ronon too.

Plus, there's damn hot smut.

Why This Must Be Read: Because there's a concensus among Sparky fans that John and Elizabeth could have been realistically having sex in practically every episode from the beginning. (There's even a ficathon-type challenge called

notjustclosets that's hosting such a premise, of which Lone_Pyramid is a mod.) Anyway, this piece explores how certain traumatic events and near-death experiences lead to sex.

Lots and lots of sex.

But it's not just about smut. The best so-called PWP are always the one that factor in the emotional, not just the physcial. If you're gonna write explicit smut for five different episode tags, it takes an immense amount of skill and characterization to keep the audience hooked on your every word. Lone_Pyramid does it with style. The desperate must-have-sex now of her pieces is nicely contrasted by "having sex" and "making love." There's a difference, and the LP captures those emotions with a deft hand.

Go. Read. Then leave a review if your brain is still coherent enough to string together words afterwards. 'Cause seriously, gah.
