Why This Must Be Read: Eep, where did November go? Slipping in a last rec as it's still Nov in most places. This is another fusion by

siria, but wildly different from the West Wing one I recently reccd. As the title suggests, it's set in the world of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, with Rodney, John and Ronon as the drag queens on a road trip (across an American desert, this time), to perform at a small town on the rez, where Teyla lives. As in Priscilla, it's a reckoning for Rodney with his past and with feelings he's suppressed for many years, and of course John and Ronon help him through it. It's wonderfully OTT, clever and hilarious, and a lot of fun!

Why This Must Be Read: Most SGA fans will know Auburn's novel-length fic Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves, the first in this series. There are two shorter (if you can call 11,000 words shorter!) follow-on fics that are also well-known (Killdeer and Everybody Knows). But hey - there are two new ones in the series! Beg, Borrow, or Steal was posted in October 2017, and the very latest one, Lawyers, Guns, and Money is still posting as a WIP - it's up to 9/26 chapters (ETA- it’s complete!). The last two fics are crossovers with NCIS LA and NCIS. So this already epic novel will have a novel-length sequel. I like the twists Auburn builds into the AU, with very different back-stories for John and Rodney, a lot of SG1 characters ending up in Pegasus including Janet Fraiser, prominent roles for Jack O'Neill and Vala, and Teyla as the runner, not Ronon. The non-con/violence is in flash-backs and canon-typical - what you expect when a Goa'uld controls your life. It's a great read - somewhat dark in places, yes, but as ever, Auburn's a master of plot and characterization. I'm not especially into NCIS, but I didn't have any trouble following those parts.

Why This Must Be Read: This story's an interesting look at what might've happened had Rodney found a way to stay behind in the Pegasus Galaxy after the Ancient's kicked the expedition out (no, I'll let you read and figure out how that happened, because it's quite clever in its simplicity). The pairings aren't ones I usually read, but Stella Wind does a lovely job of sneaking them into the story in a way that doesn't feel forced and yet makes it entirely secondary to the main plot of the story. She's got some interesting ideas here too, speculations about the Ancients, Atlantis, and also does a nice job of tying in a few places that got featured or mentioned in various episodes and shows their potential past what the show did.

It's possibly not the most exciting story ever, but the theories explored here are original and more than made up for that to me. It definitely deserves more love than it seems to have gotten on AO3, so go check it out!

Why this must be read: This is a really adorable fic about cultural misunderstandings and friendship and more. It's thoughtful and lighthearted, the characterization is totally *on*, it does both characters justice, and the dynamic between them is very intriguing.

Jennifer has never seen Teyla flee the scene, any scene, but no other phrase comes to mind. It's Jennifer's turn to blink because her eyes don't adjust that fast to the Teyla-shaped hole in the air in front of her. At least she took the gift flowers with her. That's good, right? (1,650 words)

Why This Must Be Read: So many authors (thankfully) have attempted to re-write the Heroes episode; this one accomplishes the task with originality using the characters and mythology of the Stargate universe. It is a satisfying read that lives up to the depth of characters portrayed in the show. One lives through the horror of a battlefield, the intensity of emergency medicine and the emotional rollercoaster that working in the SGC brings to each member of the team.

Why This Must Be Read: A Sam whumping fiction written by the Arcturus who clearly reigns over that specific genre. Janet and the team must rally together after a mission goes horribly wrong and Sam is left to face the consequences. Based on the mission to Netu and the pure evil that was revealed in that episode, SG-1 and Janet must rely on their individual strengths as well as their love for one another to move forward.
