Why This Must Be Read:

Out of all authors of Stargate Fan Fic I have read, Marzipan’s stories have been the most effecting. No Stars to Wish On, is one of those. The writer has tagged this story as “team as family” and I think it fits well. But like any family, it is dysfunctional at times and you get a heaping helping dose of that here. I love those interactions, even the harder ones. If a story stays with me months later and effects my own writing in some small way, well I can’t think of higher praise than that.

There just isn't nearly enough Paul Davis fic out there, but this story does an exceptional job of helping to fill that void. I love this story and it seems like the perfect capstone to my crossover recs with a hopeful new direction for two wonderful and much loved yet sadly underused characters. :)

Why This Must Be Read: I love a well thought out and executed AU. Magickmoons takes geeky!Sam from Moebius and runs with her, creating a delightful AU where the ring is discovered in Antarctica, and Jack and General Hammond are tasked with bringing together the right people to solve the mystery of the Stargate. Geeky!Sam's confidence blossoms once she is away from her abusive soon-to-be-ex fiance and her smarmy, pompous manager. And just like in every AU/timeline we've seen on-screen, there's some undeniable attraction between Sam and Jack, and Magickmoons builds the romance slow and sweet. Great characterization for everyone, especially for Jack who is competent and not at all as dumb as he likes to pretend.

Why This Must Be Read: This is the fic that made me fall in love with Paul Davis. Princess writes him wonderfully: loyal, intelligent, perceptive, and daring. The story hits some wonderful emotional hurt/comfort notes for me as well, as Paul fights through Jack’s formidable defenses to provide the support and companionship he needs, whether he realizes it or not.

It’s a really great story about loneliness and connection and friendships. (As a bonus, it’s about ten different kinds of hot!! :D)
