Show: SG-1
Rec Category: Daniel Jackson / Original Team
Characters: Jack O'Neill, Daniel Jackson, Sam Carter, Teal'c, General Hammond, Robert Makepeace, Janet Fraiser
Categories: Gen; Hurt/Comfort
Warnings: Nasty people do nasty things to a major character
Author's Journal: unknown
Author's Website: ELG on AO3
Link: Ripples
Why This Must Be Read: Back in the day, this story was (and still is, imo) a 'must read' work in the hurt/comfort genre. While the 'hurt' part may not be everyone's cup of tea, a well-done hurt/comfort story serves to highlight deep bonds of loyalty and friendship ... and where that's concerned, this story is one of the best. All the characters play important roles, plus, for me, the commitment, caring, and commonality of purpose amongst SG-1 more than offsets scenes of violence. I also like the point-of-view choice the author made; imo the alternating sections of 3rd and 1st person pov are highly effective. Overall, this story is well-plotted, well written, and just a plain old really good read!
