Why This Must Be Read: This is an excellent fic about what happens when Rodney's team, through no fault of their own, causes harm to Rodney. The event itself is brief and bloody, but the aftermath and how Teyla, Ronon and John desperately want Rodney's forgiveness, and how Rodney needs so badly to get over it, are poignant and meaningful. It's a little dark, but well worth the read.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a wonderful fic from Evan's POV, cataloguing his growing attraction to a brilliantly snarky Rodney and his attempts to get Rodney to notice him. The eventual getting together is delightful. It's the first McLorne fic I ever read and it made me smile the whole way through (and gave me another ship to obsess over!).

Why This Must Be Read: Shock horror, I didn't really remember who David Parrish was *ducks*. So when

busaikko posted this on AO3 back in March, I thought "It's John, and NC-17, I'll give it a go."
Well! HOT is the first thing that comes to mind. Followed quickly by vulnerability, awwwww, and a touch of humour. I found myself encouraging "come on! Go to him" and "just say yes!" I love it when a story pulls me into itself, surrounds and captivates me. This one did that. It didn't leave me wanting more, simply because it was so well told you sigh with it's rightness. Perfect characterization as well as hot sex.

Summary: Lorne was royally screwed. Not because he had just found out that his commander has a thing for him and he didn't return his feelings, it was because he did. The only thing that stood in the way was Lorne's integrity, and he wasn't sure he was such an honorable man.

Why This Must Be Read: Ayama_chi creates another excellent story of how John and Evan both fight for their love to each other and their commitment to their duty as servicemen. Through the entire story, you can see them constantly orbiting each other and when they do finally get together, the reader cheers for the two of them. Excellent characterization and storyline.

Why This Must Be Read: Written as a companion to Location, Location, Location a McShep AU where John is a Realtor and Rodney needs a house. You do not need to read that one in order to enjoy this one. Lorne takes a job as PA to McKay, running an errand for McKay he bumps into Parrish in the school greenhouse, and so it begins.
This contains pretty much everything I love in a fic, a competant Parrish, lots of flirting, grumpy-yet-lovable McKay, misunderstandings and just a smattering of angst with a happy ending.

Why this must be read: Admittedly, the Parrish/Lorne 'ship doesn't really come into the focus until the end, but it's the building up to it that really touches at your heart - it's more about the fact that Parrish and Lorne need to keep quiet about their relationship, and that that arrangement isn't really ideal. It's also a reversal on the hypothermic, getting-naked-to-keep-warm trope as Rodney and Lorne are the ones who have to preserve heat, but it's not romantic as they are both in loving relationships already. What I love most about this fic is the characters' voices, the banter between them is so in-character, and lovely to read. It's truly a heartwarming story about how oppressive DADT is but that there's still a middle ground to be found - not everyone has to know you're in a same-sex relationship, but to the people closest to you that do find out, it won't matter.

Why This Must Be Read: Earth is gone, Atlantis is alone and damaged (both the city and it's inhabitants) in Pegasus facing an enemy probably more horrifying than the wraith, and Rodney's in charge after what's left of his team goes missing on a mission. The author describes this as an ensemble piece, which it is, but i'm reccing it for this category because it's a realistic "What if Rodney ran Atlantis?" fic that shows us Rodney evolve into a leader that those left on Atlantis trust and follow before he (or we) even realize it. The slash is there, but definitely not the forefront of the story - it's more about comfort in the face of some pretty horrible circumstances, no pwp here. Sardonicsmiley's fics are kind of ubiquitous on this site, but I hadn't seen this one posted in the community, and this is one of my favorite Rodney fics on the interwebs - kind of heartbreaking, but ultimately hopeful in the end.

Why This Must Be Read:
This is actually not just a single story, but an entire series that I've come to enjoy greatly and pretty much makes me bounce in my seat when I see a new story posted.

Starting out as an AU of Continuum, Cam decides to change history for himself by leaving essentially a cheatsheet for his (for lack of a better term) younger self in order to not lose out on a chance of happiness once the timeline is back on track. (And she addresses Original!Cam's fate in a very clever way to boot.)

Just the way Slybrarian weaves canon throughout the story keeps things very fun and sexy to read without running into the area of implausibility. The dialogue and pacing are excellent and you find that you can't stop reading once you've began because even if you're familiar with the canon of both SG-1 and SGA, she somehow manages to keep you wondering what's going to happen next and how the boys will handle things.

And as an added bonus over the course of the series, she gives us very rich back-stories for both Cam and Sheppard, borrowing Cam's from

clanmitchell, and how they've always fit together until the events of this particular story leads us into new-ish territory and that they want something, someone, more permanent in their lives.
