Why this must be read:

For my first humor rec, I pull out a doozy! This gem recreates the SGA pilot "Rising" with screen caps and then proceeds to make a parody of it with some of the zaniest and crack-tastic captions ever. Some of the one-liners Ms. Kodiak can pull out of her head are amazing! From a puking Stargate to "the hands!" to everyone having a wish to kill Sheppard to the ever slowly growing Wraith/Human body score, this chuckle-inducing fest will leave your gut sore from laughter and tears running down your face. Do be a bit warned as there is a TON of screen caps so loading times may vary for those with slow connections. But oh this is so worth it!!! Why This Must Be Read: Action and adventure, drama, angst, and suspense make up the bulk of my fanfic reading, but every now and then even I need something fun and light, and this little story delivers. The author takes a popular SG-1 fanfic trope, that of Lusting!Jack and Oblivious!Daniel, and fluffs it up with some gently poking humor, while still treating it with affection and respect. As told from Jack's POV, his inner monologues and external dialogues are lively and vibrant, very Jack-like, and it all creates a charming, fun, and funny whole.

Why This Must Be Read: This fic is a parody. This fic is crack.

This fic is unquestionably hilarious.

I don't want to spoil the story for anyone, although the punchline is dropped pretty early in the story; that means I can't use my favorite bits in the snippet included in this rec. Briefly, SG-1 gates to a planet and discovers that a planetary commerical giant on Earth is actually universal. Daniel is the first one to suspect, but is not quite ready to offer any theories, especially one that seems so far-fetched. Once the penny drops, though, the real fun begins!

Poor Jack is left turning in circles as Daniel races to discover if he can find the match for his Lärare bookcase set, they clash with Yu on what is truly neutral territory (Ba'al is still persona non grata for his error), and Sam lusts after naquadah table lamps. Teal'c's calm acceptance doesn't help Jack much, although he just might get a chance to sample some Swedish meatballs.

Extra points for the "Jack," "Daniel," "Jack" exchange, complete with translation!

This humor fic is the giggle-out-loud kind, so read at work at your own risk.

Why This Must Be Read: I believe this type of fic is called meta fic - the characters are conscious of being "fictives" in a science fiction show.

Another name, unquestionably, is crack!fic.

I have a fond spot for Nyan and Rothman, for some odd reason. I also have a fond spot for guest stars that vanish into the Stargate and are never seen again, even if the fans really want them to come back. So it's easy to see why I found this parody so much fun!

In this unquestionably twisted story, Nyan, together with Robert Rothman, runs the transdimensional vortex that houses the gone-but-usually-not-forgotten minor characters of SG-1. With so very many residents, it's inevitable for personalities to clash. The fic takes us through a typical adminstrative day for Nyan, as he deals with complaints from the various characters who aren't happy with their housing. Nyan deals smoothly with the likes of Hathor and Garek squabbling over who is the real, true deity, and Kerry Johnson's alarm at rooming with Anise, who scans her for that mysterious allure that allows her to attract Jack O'Neill. At least Michael and Jenny approve of what he's doing...
