Rec Category: Rodney McKay
Pairing: John/Rodney/Teyla
Category: slash, threesome, darkfic
Warning: very dark, mature themes, non-con, deals with aftermath of torture
Author on LJ:
gaiaanarchy
Link: Like Heisenberg, Looking In, Uncertain
Summary: Rodney doesn’t know a lot about healing, doesn't understand. But like purest of scientists, he knows how to bear witness.
Why This Must Be Read:
This is not an easy story. Terrible things happen to these characters. But it is an interesting, intriguing look at exactly what it is that makes John who he is, and Rodney who he is. I love that the author captured a side of Rodney that few others get at: the side that, while he may not be a natural 'people person', understands his teammates where and when it matters. When it comes to John and Teyla, Rodney does have empathy. I also love the side of John that we get here: Gaiaanarchy steamrollers over John's machismo to get at the heart of the person, and finds both the viciousness and the vulnerability beneath. So yeah, light-years from fluff, certainly not easy, but this story is definitely worth reading.
