Why This Must Be Read:
Lorne is wonderfully Lorne in this; and, because Lorne is not part of Teyla's inner circle, Teyla by way of his perception carries an intriguing sort of mystique about her. Lorne's personality is marked by practicality, unflappability, and deadpan sense of humor; he's not stingy with respect and admiration, either, where it's due. I like seeing Teyla filtered through all of that.
Their conversation, and even Lorne's train of thought, doesn't give away the sudden UST turn the story takes toward the end; but the physical, tactile descriptions of their interplay does. It makes the turn a bit of a surprise, a bit of an illicit moment, and very much the sort of thing I'd like to see followed up on a quiet, out-of-the-way, moonlit balconey sometime.
