A whole year through Daniel Jackson's head. Little crack!fic - ness, it's not what you would expect out of Daniel Jackson but then who knows what he's really thinking! Very funny none-the-less, I laughed very hard in a lot of places. I'm pretty sure this has not been recc'd yet and if it has it's worth it for a second time round

Alcohol units 18 (hideous) Chocolate chip cookies 13 (ugh) Coffee (lost count around 3pm) Time spent drunkenly badmouthing Wallace Budge - total of 86 minutes and 22 seconds. Visits to infirmary 0 (v.good)

An exceptionally bad start to the year. New Year's party still making presence felt by way of toxic hangover. I knew the karaoke machine was a bad idea. Made Jack attempt to lower my inhibitions by feeding me alcohol so I'd sing. I have a horrible feeling we made complete asses of ourselves. Sam was humming 'It's Raining Men' with a twinkle in her eye, so it's a very real possibility.

Resolved to be virtuous. Made New Year's Resolutions.

Why This Must Be Read: I hated to give the pairings for this, as they're a spoiler of sorts, but I've read this fic so many times that I can say with confidence it gets better when you know what's going on.

Which is the slow, sneaky seduction of one stressed-out Major Davis in lyrical, hot, hot prose.

Massage fics are practically a sub-genre of their own and this one is a classic with so much else besides. There's Anais' sly humour, those words, lush and sensual, painting a picture you want to sink into, and there's cut with a knife UST all over the place. It's a threesome fic where the three of them are never in the same room, and aren't really a threesome but they're still all tangled up in a glorious mess of lustful longing.

A Heinlein character once said geniuses make their own rules about sex. Anais' Daniel resembles that remark.

Why This Must Be Read: If you're looking for long, plotty, almost epic type fic, this would be one well added to your list. It has everything to entertain: on-world action and adventure, reminiscent of the Daniel part of Evolution; off-world action and adventure, in meeting new cultures, reacquainting with old, and engaging the enemy of Anubis; science-y, techno discoveries; Daniel in linguist/archaeologist mode; SGC politics; hurt/comfort; romance; sex. And it has everything to satisfy: rich, nuanced characterizations; insightful explorations of the layers of relationships, both old and new; resolution and evolution to friendships, working relationships, as well as the romantic; professional recognition and saving the world. There is a lifetime in this story, in the way that it affects a person every day, and Sideburns, as well, brings it to a conclusion that leaves the reader able to see the future of that lifetime very clearly.

Why This Must Be Read: This rec goes with the previous one -- Tafkar took the angstiest part of the second chapter of Danvers' Clone Series and remixed it from Daniel's POV, dialing the angst up to eleven. Why This Must Be Read: Many Fragile Balance tag fics are angsty, as clone!Jack deals with not having "his" life anymore. This one, over the course of three parts, stretches out the loss, alienation and identity crisis over the next twenty years in a wonderfully epic storyline. It's written with a dead-on Jack POV, and a lot of humor (including an especially playful Thor). The pain is brilliantly subtle in the first part, but ratchets up to seriously cry-inducing in parts two and three.

Why This Must Be Read:
I'm rather shocked that this hasn't been recced already. It is one of the quintessential Jack/Daniel fics.

A parody of Bridgett Jones' Diary, the DJD takes us through a year with Daniel, the most neurotic, self-destructive, self-conscious, and plagued archeologist/linguist to walk this Earth (or any other planets you can gate to). The whole of the piece is laugh-yourself-sick funny. It is completely absurd and its absurdity is its brilliance.

Also, strangely enough, there's lots of hot Jack/Daniel action and enough angst (comidically rendered) to kill a Not-Monkey.

The first part gets a little gross with describing a planet that might as well be called Planet Sewer, but after that the ick-factor is mostly contained in two words: Guacamole Anguish. Read the story to find out what I mean. ;)

I'm tired of living with regrets, all those 'what ifs' and 'should haves.' Something could happen to me tomorrow and I don't want my last thoughts to be about all those things I could have done and should have had. Life's too short to waste it like that."

This story has good interaction with characters that are true to ones we know combined with a sleeping Russian Colonel by the name of Chekov, and an intiation into the Mile High Club, so what are you waiting for? Go read!

Why this should be read: This is perhaps the funniest SG story I've read in years. Merisu (say it slow) invades the SGC and is intent on marrying Teal'c. Only Cassie, Paul and Daniel Jackson are immune to her charms.

If you enjoy truly hysterically funny, wildly out of characters romps with Paul/Daniel saving the SGC, this story is for you. And yes, the sex is hot.

Why This Must Be Read: Simply, poor Major Davis is having a very bad day. Even if you're not a Davis fan, you can't help but feel for him.

On top of waking up in a latex-smelling, playdough type harness hanging several feet above the ground at the SGC, there's an alien impersonating him, Harry Maybourne's to the rescue and he's been getting all sorts of confusing signals from a certain archealogist who apparently while interested in him, but who also appears quite interested in Jack O'Neill.

But there's a surprise.

It's a good fic, in which you get to see the SGC from the eyes of our very favorite Pentagon Paper Pusher. Characters are true to form, and there's a surprise ending that I didn't see coming.
