Why This Must Be Read: This is a beautiful exploration of Daniel's relationship with music and people over the years, arcing from pre-series to post-series. From Sha're to Sam to Sarah Gardener to Cassie to Vala, Daniel's musical skills and his willingness to play are deeply affected by the people and events in his life. I especially like how the author leaves the color of the goggles to the reader's discretion, especially with Vala: read this as friendship or pre-ship, and it all works wonderfully!

Why This Must Be Read: Because I think a lot of people forget that there is more that Daniel and Vala share than her past as a host, and his past dealing with one. They also share the fact that they've lost a child, that they were/are parents and this is wonderful fic showing just that. Set after The Shourd we have a short and lovely moment where Daniel seeks out Vala and to his own surprise comforts her, sharing his past with Shifu.

Why This Must Be Read: An oldie, but a goodie. It's a Vala goes home fic, a wonderful Vala goes home fic. And the language is beautiful. It's a gentle story that takes you through watching as Vala deals with what her childhood has become and you can see how it shakes her. There's also a nice Daniel/Vala friendship moment (ust if you choose to see that way) in the fic as well, where Daniel understands just what this place is to her, but it's really about Vala and the changes that have happened in her life.

Why This Must Be Read: This is Daniel and Vala as they should be. This is a scene that should have been in the show. Wonderful characterisation on both parts and we see them talk and connect over the love of lost children. Adria for Vala, Shifu for Daniel. Havoc does a great job bringing the topic to light. Vala is still strong and defensive in her sadness and regret and Daniel is wonderful as he reaches out to her, showing her she's not alone, even as she tries to push him away. I shoo you to read.

Why This Must Be Read: The first time I read this, I had never seen Torchwood, or Doctor Who for that matter, so I had no idea who Jack Harkness was. I immediately loved Jack and I believe minervacat portrayed him superbly. It didn't bother me that I had never seen Torchwood. I followed the events quite well and I loved the fic.

I read this fic again after I had seen Torchwood (awesome show by the way) and it was even better. I absolutely loved the Vala/Jack pairing because it's so makes sense! This is a great way to see Vala interact with someone other than Daniel or any other member of SG-1.

To conclude, this fic can be appreciated even if the reader has never seen Torchwood before. So please, enjoy!

Erin sees the connection between the two characters. This is not a fic that it's about transcending the John/Aeryn ship into SG-1, like so many Cam/Vala fics, it is a fic about two characters finding each other through their difficult situation.
