Why This Must Be Read: Another story in which a cracky trope - the magical healing cock - is given a kind-of serious pseudo-scientific (and kinky) treatment. Once again, some pesky bit of Ancient tech has its way with John, and it turns out his semen can now heal almost anything. A totally whacked premise, but trophic explores how shitty that would be for John, with his "leave no man (or woman) behind" issues. He can't just say no and leave one of the scientists, or one of his marines, dying of something he could fix, right? But it's hard to get it up under that kind of pressure which is where Jen Keller comes in. I like the way this story explores how this seeming magical power is the worst kind of bind for John, with Carson ethically blinkered, focused only on John saving patients. I also like how it makes the Sheppard/Keller pairing work - for me, anyway - I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea. But for those willing to try a rarepair with Jen as a gentle dom, this is highly recommended.

snippet: It wasn’t even a lie. She loved her job at the SGC, had loved it ever since Dr Andrews, who always did the medical recruitment visits, had turned up at her office with an airman in dress blues, talking about a research paper she’d just published and asking her to sign a non-disclosure agreement. It was exciting, and different, and she didn’t get guns waved in her face nearly as often as she had working in the ER (and the people who did usually came by to apologize, often with gifts, once they’d recovered from whatever alien thing had made them do it in the first place).

It is a relationship of inequalities and one that causes Laura great pain. What does it mean if she kisses you only when she's drunk? When she lets you touch her but won't touch you back? She needed normality but doubted she was ever going to find it, that she would always be caught, suspended between attraction and repulsion.
Epic Rodney/Laura, which is an unusual thing for the rarer pairing, but is well worth taking the time to read. John forces Rodney to take Laura on a mission to investigate a possible explosive, but Rodney gets exposed to a solar flare and they have to wait until it is possible to contact Atlantis. Laura won't let Rodney sit around and feel sorry for himself and so she deliberately provokes him, as she doesn't know how to handle miserable Rodney. The characterisation of the pair is great, because although they get together, they retain their teasing and snarky relationship, making the possibility seem much more realisitic You get Rodney being his usual arrogant self, which is what gets him into trouble but also a more sensitive side when Laura tells him about the 'jerk' she likes :P
