Why This Must Be Read: The decision to rec fics for my fav pairing came after rereading this one; it’s a perfect example of how I see a relationship beginning between these two, how their need to find comfort results in them finding it easily in each other.

Written from John’s POV. It is short, intense, full of emotions, sexy, and both John and Teyla are completely in character.
One more amazing things about this fic is although there is no dialogue between these two characters, you can still feel the tension between them.

If you like being in John’s head and seeing Teyla through his eyes, then this is a must read.

Why This Must Be Read: I know that this is a recent fic and a fair amount of you may have already read it if you belong to john_elizabeth, but for those who haven't read it, or don't belong, I highly recommend it. This author is an engaging and talented writer with moving fics. This one in particular touches on all the complexities of Sparky, especially Elizabeth, by bringing it AU. The story is not too far out of canon, and so will appeal to those who like canon works, and is an unique enough work that it will appeal to those who like AU's.

Why This Must Be Read: In I Always Hoped You Knew, Kathy takes us through Meridian through Sam's eyes, from the moment they stepped through the gate until the moment she sat down at Daniel's bedside, telling him how much he meant to her. Along the way, we get to revisit, together with Sam, the precious moments that Sam and Daniel have shared over the past five years… and the pain that Sam feels at knowing that she has to say good-bye.

Emotionally satisfying, with neat segues from memory to current crisis, I Always Hoped You Knew is a lovely fic that showcases many of Sam and Daniel's best scenes in the first five seasons, as well as showing us Meridian from a unique perspective.

First off, I want to say Wow!. We have a large number of first time rec'cers this month. I can't say how happy that makes me. I love seeing new volunteers. My quick count shows that we had 108 recs for October!!!

We had 27 categories that had volunteers and of them, 17 had their rec counts fulfilled. That's great! It's better than last month and I'm all for taking strides. 2 had 3 of the 4 requireds. 5 had 2 of the 4 requireds. Only 2 categories went without any recs. I'm very impressed with these numbers! WHEE!

Now, just a few reminders. Some we've made a few times, some are new. So please, even if you've rec'ced for years, give this a read. Maybe leave a comment to let me know you've read it. :)

Please make sure that the very first line of your entry is this:

The only exception is that for your first post of the month, you can do a little introduction of yourself if you want. I actually like those. Please don't put the title, author, and rating in the actual post, those go in the subject line.

2. Tags and Memories

If you have any questions about specific tags and memories, please send me an email. I'm online every night to check emails, so you should get a response very quickly.

3. Before Rec'cing

Before you start rec'cing in your category, check the memories to see if the story has been rec'ced in your category before. I don't expect you to check every category, just the one you've volunteered in. If the story isn't there, you can rec it again.

4. Tagging

Please do not tag your own entry. I know rec'cers have been doing this and it really does cause more work for the volunteers. They know the system, and every time someone has tagged their own rec, the volunteers have had to change it... or I have. So please, let them do what they get paid the 'big bucks' for! *g*

A little clarification for those who are new. As the owner of the comm, there isn't a decision that isn't run by me before put into effect. Everyone is in contact with me. I read all the entries and the comments for each. I keep track of the number of entries for the month and try to make sure that people don't wait until the last minute to post their recs. Medie is my right hand. She does a lot of the communications. She lines up rec'cers for each month and deals with a lot of issues that arise. She and I are in constant communication. Kellifer, our newest mod, is the one that handles posting access and every month she makes sure that all the entries have been tagged and put into memories.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a missing scene for S1 episode Poisoning the Well, i.e. the one where Carson got friendly with the “Hoffan Doctor Lady”. It’s on the short side (too short, oh why, oh why is it so short *wails*) but the character voices are spot-on and poor Rodney especially is laugh out loud funny in his flustered panic. Plus the story features one of my sure-fire kinks: jealous!Rodney. Short, sweet and in-character, a perfect fic to whet your appetite for more Carson/Rodney loving.
