First off, I want to say Wow!. We have a large number of first time rec'cers this month. I can't say how happy that makes me. I love seeing new volunteers. I say this with every mod post, but if you have ANY questions, feel free to email either [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] (medie @ livejournal.com) or me, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] (angelsgracie @ livejournal.com). We're here if you have any questions about anything!
Now for our counts!
My quick count shows that we had 108 recs for October!!!
We had 27 categories that had volunteers and of them, 17 had their rec counts fulfilled. That's great! It's better than last month and I'm all for taking strides. 2 had 3 of the 4 requireds. 5 had 2 of the 4 requireds. Only 2 categories went without any recs. I'm very impressed with these numbers! WHEE!
Now, just a few reminders. Some we've made a few times, some are new. So please, even if you've rec'ced for years, give this a read. Maybe leave a comment to let me know you've read it. :)
1. Entry...
Please make sure that the very first line of your entry is this:
Rec Category:
The only exception is that for your first post of the month, you can do a little introduction of yourself if you want. I actually like those. Please don't put the title, author, and rating in the actual post, those go in the subject line.
2. Tags and Memories
If you have any questions about specific tags and memories, please send me an email. I'm online every night to check emails, so you should get a response very quickly.
3. Before Rec'cing
Before you start rec'cing in your category, check the memories to see if the story has been rec'ced in your category before. I don't expect you to check every category, just the one you've volunteered in. If the story isn't there, you can rec it again.
4. Tagging
Please do not tag your own entry. I know rec'cers have been doing this and it really does cause more work for the volunteers. They know the system, and every time someone has tagged their own rec, the volunteers have had to change it... or I have. So please, let them do what they get paid the 'big bucks' for! *g*
5. Your Mods
Thought I'd put up a list of the mods and who is what.
[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]-- Owner/Lead Moderator
[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]-- Second in Command/Co-Moderator
[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]-- Third in Command/Co-Moderator/Oversees Memories and Tagging for Entries
A little clarification for those who are new. As the owner of the comm, there isn't a decision that isn't run by me before put into effect. Everyone is in contact with me. I read all the entries and the comments for each. I keep track of the number of entries for the month and try to make sure that people don't wait until the last minute to post their recs. Medie is my right hand. She does a lot of the communications. She lines up rec'cers for each month and deals with a lot of issues that arise. She and I are in constant communication. Kellifer, our newest mod, is the one that handles posting access and every month she makes sure that all the entries have been tagged and put into memories.
[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] are the wonderful volunteers who keep everything in place and running smoothly!
I say it often, but it's true, all of the mods and volunteers and an invaluable resource to me. I am so very lucky to have them all!
That's it for the mod post! I'll be checking back in mid-month to give a little push for rec'cing. :)
Happy November Recs!!!!

Date: 2006-11-07 01:03 am (UTC)I love rec'ing, and it might be me but sometimes I have a hard time finding if a fic is already rec'ed in a different Category than the one I am working in.(I can be fairly clueless at times lol) What if the Author's name was added as a tag? It is just a thought and please don't take it as criticism.

Date: 2006-11-07 01:26 am (UTC)The good news for you (*g*) is that you don't have to check other categories to see if a story you want to rec has been rec'ced. If you're rec'cing, say Jack/Daniel, you only need to check that category in memories. If it isn't there, you're free to rec it! It's undaunting to think about checking all the categories. So no stressor there!
As for your tag suggestion, I will take it under advisement and talk to [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and the volunteers to who the tagging and see what they think! ;)
