Why This Must Be Read: Radek/Ronon is one of my favourite pairings, hands down. And I place the credit (or blame) for that on chopchica and this story. This was posted shortly after the beginning of Season 2, and if my memory serves, Radek and Ronon had not actually shared any screen-time. But it really worked for me.

You have Radek being observant, Ronon being big and menacing, and Rodney snarking. There's also a little Sheppard/McKay in there for those whose tastes run that way ^_^ All in all, one of my favourites.

Why This Must Be Read: Rodney might have said a time or two that if you walked through Sheppard's head you'd hear an echo, but he'd never expected it to be literally true.

So this was Sheppard's brain, or some sort of interface to Sheppard's brain -- this room like a Japanese temple, filled with beautiful light that illuminated nothing because there was nothing there.

resonant8 gives us a unique combination of the psychological and technological. Rodney and John have happened on an Ancient device that allows them to see into each other's minds -- a common trope. But unlike most of this ilk, they are thrown into an altered state where their minds grope to visually represent what they perceive.

Rodney's mind is hysterical, everything you could imagine and worse. But it's Rodney's insight into John's complexities that makes this a fascinating read.

Why This Must Be Read: When I first ran into Stargate Atlantis I was looking for SG-1 episodes at the local video store. I scoped out the box for the SGA season premiere (hey, I'm an addict) and said to the boyfriend, "Wow, what a cheap knock-off of SG-1."

I didn't get it until "Hide and Seek." When John and Rodney beamed at each other, and John grinned, "I shot him" – ha, such boys. I finally understood.

Isn't it great when writers like stillane take their playfulness and make an entire story out of it?

Yes, John and Rodney have found a new extremely valuable and potentially dangerous Ancient device toy, and compete over who gets to keep it. The battle eventually embroils any number of Atlantis personnel in schemes just shy of deadly. You couldn't solve this with a referee and a whistle. Especially since they're enjoying it so much.

Why This Must Be Read:

I read this story some time ago and it stuck with me. Jack wants to do something special for Daniel but instead of making him happy as Jack had hoped the "gift" ends up stirring up memories that Daniel would rather not have dealt with.

The story is sad and intense but well worth reading. Enjoy!

Why This Must Be Read:

The story has an interesting and not so typical plot to it that's both intriguing and interesting.

Daniel, Teal'c and Jack are trapped and there's only one way to escape. When Daniel figures it out he must make a sacrifice that leads him to confessing his love for Jack...but did the confession come too late for Jack to act on it?

Why This Must Be Read:

The SGC is locked down due to a quarantine for eight days leaving everyone with too much time and too little to do. Each has to find things to occupy their time and most do well with that. Jack and Daniel however find that they seriously need to keep their hands off of each other and thus attempt to keep a distance from one another. The sexual tension countered with the humorous banter between Janet and Sam over whether or not Jack and Daniel are actually doing it makes for an intersting, enjoyable and rather humorous read. Enjoy!

Why This Must Be Read:

I love this gen fic. When I read this, I kind of wish that this is the way that some of Season 9 turned out. It's got a ton of characters in it and they're all blended in together in way that is plausible. And they are all in character, as well. This branches off sometime before Crusade and features the team dealing with the Ori, the IOC, and a group of people that are trying to possibly gain knowledge of the SGC's activites. This group of people have been going after Cassie, clone Jack, and other people that have relations with SG1. Everyone manages to get quality time within the plot.

The plot is also well devloped and has twists and turns to keep you guessing. The multiple story lines intersect in a way that's believable and interesting. It's also novel-sized so don't read this unless you have a good chunk of your time to spare. There's also a ship version of this fic, however I would recommend reading that after you read the gen version. Otherwise you may be spoiled for one of the biggest reveals in this story, just by the pairing. (And it's such a good reveal!)

Why This Must Be Read:
This is what happens when Ford and McKay get stuck in an underground ice cave together. Unlike other stories of this type, it doesn't lead to frozen sex, it leads to banter between the two of them about the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. It also leads Ford to attempt to tell McKay that although he's in the military, he's smart also and that McKay should see that. And somehow it ends up in a snowball fight. It's a just a short, sweet fic that is perfect for a very hot Saturday evening.

Rodney starts laughing somewhere after the third or fourth snowball. He doesn't know what it is about balling up frozen bits of water and watching them impact Ford that amuses him so much, but it does.

Even more when Ford laughs and hurls one back.

This was written in three parts for the tealc_ficathon. It takes place after Serpents Venom with Teal'c feeling out of place and weak. The fic deals with him and the team (the interaction between them all is wonderful!) as they go on a mission filled with a ton of action. It's sometimes hard to find a gen fic (or any fic) that gets Teal'c voice just right, but the author manages to do this for this fic. I really like this one and it almost seems like it could have been an episode.

Why This Must Be Read: New this month! I'm so glad I get to rec it. A friendly SG-1 visits through the quantum mirror. It turns out the other Jack/Daniel couple is also into BDSM. Should be great, right? Not in this case... There are plenty of humorous moments, just enough "mission" to add flavor, and some nice explorations inside all the men's emotions. Causes some great seat squirming, too, considering everybody keeps their clothes on.

If you want to rec a category in stargateficrec then please go here and pick the category you want. The filled rec positions for august are looking mighty thin at present (I'm currently going through and contacting the next in line) and we'd love to fill it out a bit more. Remember guys, you only are asked to do a minimum of four recommendations. The maximum is twenty-five but we don't expect you to fill that.

Also, there are categories in danger of being eliminated (IE the category for poor Ford has never had a volunteer and the one for Jack/Sam and Jack/Daniel friendship are mighty thin.) and some of these are categories that were requested.

The recs are great to read but just like crack_van if you don't volunteer, we grind to a halt.

This is the summer so I'm not surprised things are slow but remember, vacation time is the perfect time to curl up with a good fic so please, pick a category, sign up and rec for us. We so *VERY* appreciate it when you all do! :-)
