Why This Must Be Read: Rodney might have said a time or two that if you walked through Sheppard's head you'd hear an echo, but he'd never expected it to be literally true.

So this was Sheppard's brain, or some sort of interface to Sheppard's brain -- this room like a Japanese temple, filled with beautiful light that illuminated nothing because there was nothing there.

resonant8 gives us a unique combination of the psychological and technological. Rodney and John have happened on an Ancient device that allows them to see into each other's minds -- a common trope. But unlike most of this ilk, they are thrown into an altered state where their minds grope to visually represent what they perceive.

Rodney's mind is hysterical, everything you could imagine and worse. But it's Rodney's insight into John's complexities that makes this a fascinating read.
