Summary:  When close friends, Major Samantha Carter and Dr. Janet Fraiser, think they have all the time in the world, both fear risking their friendship too much to reveal their hidden desires. But when a routine mission sends SG-1 seven years into Earth's future, there's no time like the present.

Snippit:  
          Concern had filled Janet's heart at the sight of her normally confident friend looking so out of sorts and lost in her memories. She took Sam's hand into her own, lightly caressing the back of her palm with her thumb. Reaching up, she gently touched the side of Sam's face, turning her attention back to her. "Sam?... Sam, tell me what happened when you got there."
          She closed her eyes and leaned her face into Janet's warm caress. It made it more real each time Janet had touched her. She knew this was her chance to tell her everything. Opening her eyes again, she looked down to the hand that held hers. "We never made it off world, Janet." Sam took a deep breath and looked back inside the fire, "At least not technically."  

Why This Must Be Read:  This is an excellent story. It has a well developed plot and the characters are true to form. I have read this many times and enjoyed it each time. Adult/future Cassie is a real plus. I give this an A+.

Why This Must Be Read: Annerb treats us to a delightful, thoughtful character study of two of the strongest women in the SGC universe: Samantha Carter and Sha're of Abydos.

The AU setting, with a Sha're that survived FIAD, takes place some time in the future, in which the SGC program has gone public and SG-1 is too famous for their own comfort. Against the magnificent backdrop of a moutain cabin (sadly, not Jack's - they're too well known for that), Sha're and Sam hike to Alma's Peak and consider the paths they've taken... and how to meet the challenges of their future and the losses it might hold.

I have a not-so-secret adoration for good quality authors who recognize that Sha're is a product of a different culture, and uses those differences to celebrate her personality instead of attempting to reshape her to fit Western values. Annerb does a magnificent job of showing us, through Sam's modern POV, Sha're's strength of will, her understanding of the universe, and the cool reflection of a woman who has gone through fire, survived - and triumphed.

The View From Up Here is lovely story, with impeccable characterization for both Sam and Sha're and a lovely touch of teamy goodness on the side. Read this one and savor.

Why This Must be Read: tejas uses the aftermath of five episodes to show us different aspects of Sam and Daniel both as individuals and as friends. We see their friendship at its strongest but also under strain, and it's lovely how Sam can let her guard down with Daniel in a way she can't with any one else. And if slash isn't your thing, never fear - it's really pretty subtle and only in the fifth section.

Why This Must be Read: In the interest of full disclosure, Sotto Voce was written for me in this year's jd_ficathon .  I asked for teamy goodness, a fluffy ending, and telepathy.  I got it in spades.  This story is a wonderful team adventure on top of being a gorgeous Jack/Daniel story.  The team pulls together behind Daniel and their support for him is palpable.  lokei  manages to take the telepathy trope and make it fresh and inventive.  It's sweet, but not over-the-top.  And her Jack voice is perfect.
