Why This Must Be Read:
I have a real fondness for outsider POVs, where the story is told from the perspective of someone outside of the relationship. In this story, that's key, as the outsider is a woman who can give us the background on the SF/horror set-up and give us the world context for what is going on. So the story isn't up close and personal to the feelings and emotions of the series characters, but there is a lot of emotional intensity brought to the story though the POV character.

Why This Must Be Read:

Ending my two month turn with rec'cing fics about the lovely Samantha with a happy fic--a wonderful bit of fluff dessert. Literally.

It the early days of the SGC. Sam is spending a late night at the office and of course needing a sugar fix. She's not the only one who decides to refuel at the commissary. A nice conversation between two burgeoning teammates turns into a bit of punchy stress relief.

The dialogue flows naturally, the rhythm of the fic builds in an excellent (if cracky manner). Sam's tiredness and strategic thinking is well established in the story, as well as the obvious affection she feels for her teammate(s). And the climactic entrance cannot be missed! I grinned a lot and laughed out loud a couple times while reading it.

Plus, there's blue Jell-O!
