Why This Must Be Read: This story is one helluva ride and is not your ordinary Sam/Jack romance, nor is it the usual crossover by any stretch.  Tammy does an amazing job of working the crossover characters into the story in a plausible way and knows all of them well, bringing them to vivid life.  The story is well told and will have you on the edge of your seat, so pop some popcorn, grab your favorite beverage and settle in for a good, gripping read.

Why This Must Be Read: Lieutenant Jennifer Hailey is one of the minor characters from Stargate SG-1 of whom we just never see enough.  redrikki's "Haily Thinks" series helps alleviate that by providing fun, well characterized and well written stories featuring our favorite spunky Lieutenant.  Yes, I'm cheating here by reccing an entire series, but most of these stories are ficlets, which lead up to the finale in "The Lost Tribe", which is a longer story.  If you liked LT Hailey and enjoy a good adventure yarn with dashes of humor thrown in, this series is definitely for you.

Why This Must Be Read: Komos writes an amazingly awkward sex scene that is pitch perfect for all characters involved. That aliens-made-them-do-it is only the beginning of this story, as Jack and Daniel have to deal with the aftermath and what it means. So often we lose that aftermath in AMTDI fic and Komos delivers aftermath in spades.

But really, how can you go wrong with a Jack/Daniel fic by Komos? ;)

Why This Must Be Read: Daniel as a mute and a sex slave are two of the great cliches of Jack/Daniel fic. There's a reason why they're cliches and a reason why they're great and CK captures both cliches perfectly. CK's use of morse code is also reason enough to read this fic.

Why This Must Be Read:This story focuses on one Atlantis' background characters, Dr. Miko Kusanagi. Small, shy, retiring Miko--utterly loyal, fiercely determined, completely unstoppable, and tougher-than-even-she-knows Miko, who does what she must, even if it's horrific and costs her everything. One of the things I liked most about this fic was how the author kept the tension high throughout--this is not an easy fic to read--I gnawed my fingernails all the way to the end.

More Than Just Pretty Faces by Tipper [T]

Why This Must Be Read: A mission gone wrong (and when do they go right?) leaves Rodney seriously injured and the rest of the team forced to rely on what they've learned from him over the years in order to figure out how to fix malfunctioning Ancient technology and get themselves home before he dies. This is a good, solid teamwork story with h/c that's enough to satisfy my cravings but not so much that it overwhelms the rest of the story. I really enjoy plots that force the characters out of their comfort zone, and it's nice to see that Rodney's teammates are "more than pretty faces" and can do more than shoot their way out of a problem when the situation calls for it.

Why This Must Be Read: Originally posted as part of sga_flashfic's Backstory Challenge, this story gives us a very satisfying Ronon backstory. I love the worldbuilding of this fic. The people populating the story are definitely not any folks you or I would have met, but their lives and concerns feel realistic and self-consistent, rich and real.

Gosh that's a dry description of the story's literary merit. Read it because of brave Kid!Ronon, who reads comic books and trashy novels and dreams of growing up to be a Real Hero!

Why This Must Be Read: This is the type of fic that must be printed out and (re)read over and over and over (and over) again. Told from Daniel's perspective, it has perfect characterisation of all characters, great insight into the relationships between not only Sam and Jack, but also the rest of SG-1 (Sam and Daniel in particular) and is very cute (for the Sam/Jack) while at the same time remaining sad for what used to be between Sam and Daniel. A must read for every Sam/Jack (and even Sam/Daniel) fan.
