Hello. This is my first time reccing, so apologies if I don't do this correctly. I'm also starting with a toughie, as this story has two versions. A gen version and a Sheppard/Weir version. That will make this a little complicated. o_O
Rec Category: Elizabeth Weir
Pairing: Two versions of the story: Gen (pg-13) and Shep/Weir (R)
Categories: gen either/or Sheppard/Weir, (a touch of Cameron/Weir UST if you squint) AU, drama, angst, SG-1/SGA crossover
Warnings: character death (sorta), and for the S/W version, smut.

Part VIWhy This Must Be Read: This story is awe-inspiring. Irony_rocks creates a completely fleshed out and believable Alternate Universe that's sorta based on
Heroes,
The X Men, and
The X Files all rolled into one. Basically, it's a Mutant AU. Elizabeth is a telepath. John can transform into the creature he was in
Conversion. Rodney can control Water. Ronon is basically Wolverine. And Teyla's gifts are apparently numerous. You've even got Carson and Radek making their presence known, and a few SG-1 notables (mainly Cameron) showing up.
It's from Elizabeth's POV, but Irony_rocks does a great job of including every one and there's significant character moments and developments for each of them. Although Elizabeth takes center stage, everybody from Carson to Teyla to Rodney and John gets several moments to shine in this story. I'm of the mind that there aren't enough stories from Elizabeth's POV, and few that can capture her strengths and insecurities so well. Adding to the fact that this is an AU and I
still recognize her voice easily, this story really is a must read for any fans of Elizabeth. She's a little wounded, a little sad, but still strong.
I also like to think it's a must read for any fans of AU's, because the premise is wonderful and flushed out.
Genesis is the first installment of an on-going series, and the community is open to all who want to write for it - any pairing/rating.
Like I've stated above, there are two version. I am not a Sheppard/Weir, but I read both versions and each has their own strengths. Both focus on all the characters equally, and the gen version has nothing but friendship vibes between S/W (except for a slight Kirk moment when they first meet). The Sheppard/Weir version is
hot. Quite possibly the hottest smut scene I've ever read. For that alone, this story is worth reading.
*Disclaimer: I helped Irony_rocks brainstorm for this AU. Doesn't undermine this rec at all because it's still an awesome story.
