Why This Must Be Read: Because I read this years ago as one of the first Sheppard/Weir fics I ever read, and it's still one of my favorites. It's short, but wonderfully written with great characterization that captures Sheppard and Weir's relationship at the beginning with a deft hand. I admire lone_pyramid's ability to convey a whole relationship (and its' transition from one point to another) with what she once called just a ficlet. Personally, I think that's not giving the fic enough credit. It's insightful and, yeah, let's not forget - hot.

Why This Must Be Read: While short, this little fic gives the reader what many fans of "48 Hours" have wished for - a post-crisis encounter between Teal'c and Rodney McKay. Its very brevity ensures a tight focus and prevents any straying outside of what you can really imagine these two having to say to one another. janedavitt has a good ear for the voices of both characters and renders them with insight and accuracy without over-thinking the situation. Both Teal'c and Rodney are quite accurately rendered, resulting in a valid (and very cute) scene that could easily have been seamlessly appended to the episode.

Why This Must Be Read: This is an Atlantis Apocafic where Sheppard does not survive. Both Rodney and Elizabeth take this badly, but Elizabeth perhaps more so. The actual destruction of the city is summarised beautifully through the way the pair watch John before they evacuate through the gate. The fic is also good as Rodney is very much in character. He desperatly wants to help Elizabeth cope with the situation, but isn't really so good at this kind of thing, so basically barges in. There is also a lovely reference to Rodney's past. Very well written hurt/comfort.

Why This Must Be Read: I thought this was an interesting story because I haven't seen many people dealing with how Vala and Daniel have both dealt with thier own death by the end of the first episodes of season 9.   This story gives a little insight into Daniel's way of handling it, and Vala as she tries to deal with the fact that she just died.  It's more friendshipy because it is Season 9 so Daniel and Vala are still connected by the bracelets and driving each other crazy, but it is also an interesting look into their relationship at the time.

Why This Must Be Read:  Another story that deals with Vala dying in Avalon, only this time it has only her own thoughts involved.  Purpleyin has always been one of my favorite Stargate authors (I still blame her for making me like Kavanagh/Simpson) and in this one I think she gets Vala right on as far as her inner thoughts at the start of Season 9.  There really isn't much more I can say without giving the story away.
