Hey guys, it's ShaMak again. I'll be rec'cing Daniel/Teal'c this month. I hope you like the recs I prepared, I sure had a lot of fun preparing them! *snickers*

Why This Must Be Read: I love [livejournal.com profile] ladyra for this story and I made sure to tell her. This is the best Daniel/Teal'c around! It is a huge story (I prefer to think of it as a novel), which makes it kind of hard for me to say anything without spoiling it.

Well, anyway... This fic starts in the episode Window of Opportunity, and after Jack kisses Sam he goes to kiss Daniel. Isn't he in for a surprise when Teal'c won't let him enter Daniel's office? The story proceeds for a very sweet seduction by Teal'c, with Jack and Carter 'yentaing' (and I'm still laughing from this word). But can Daniel overcome his disgust with T's symbiont? Actually, can Daniel stay alive to overcome his disgust? It's fair to say that Daniel keeps getting in trouble time after time, but he makes an astounding discovery about the Goa'uld.

This story has it all, folks: hot sex, action, drama, perfect characterization of every single character (from SG-1 to secondary personnel), glimpses of everyone's minds... Just go read this piece of perfection.

Why This Must Be Read:

I have a love of fics that break outside the traditional mode of storytelling, and this is a fantastic example of how multimedia can be used to great effect to give a fic a visual as well as an emotional impact.

Beginning post "McKay and Mrs Miller", Teyla begins a correspondance with Jeannie Miller - an exchange of postcards. We see their writing styles, added notes scrawled across the cards, enclosed drawings, and before long the rest of the Atlantis team join in as well.

[livejournal.com profile] friendshipper adds so many little details and touches that make the experience of reading the postcards very personal, it's almost as if you've come across a packet of saved letters. They'll bring a smile to your face and are absolutely worth reading

Why This Must Be Read: Rodney tells a bedtime story to a pile of kids. Need I say more?
This was written for [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic's recent folklore challenge and is a sweet, funny story of Rodney stuck overnight in an alien forest with a group of children they are evacuating from a planet. To keep them calm he tells them a story as only Rodney can, all about the adventures of Rodney Hood, Colonel Little John and Friar Carson. The story is wonderfully sweet and funny and Rodney's voice and special way with kids shines through. To add to the story, we are given a delightful glimpse of John and Carson listening to Rodney's story over the radio in the jumper.

Texture of Memory

Why This Must Be Read: We almost never get to see the repercussions to the harsher experiences that our beloved characters undergo. In this bleakly, beautifully written ficlet, Sam struggles with the aftermath of her torture by Fifth in New Order. And while Daniel recognizes her distress and tries to help her overcome it, her panicked revulsion to anything metal isn't so easy to dismiss.

Read this one for the wincingly good feel of Sam's shuddering efforts to get back to some semblance of normalcy. And couldn't we all use a good friend like Daniel, even if he can't quite do enough?

Why This Must Be Read: A heart-wrenching and beautifully written story in which John and Teyla are stranded on a world where memories are the most prized commodity and they become sort of a makeshift family with a small child in John's care. They work and care for the child and try to survive. We learn bits and pieces of their lives and why they ended up there until everything is thrown for a loop and we even see that our team is reunited and some surprising people have joined the fray. It's a really interesting and engaging story that sees our heroes changing and learning to adapt to their changing situations.
