Summary: Sam comes across Daniel in the gate room after the events of "Menace".

Why This Must Be Read: Put quite simply, this is a completely gut-wrenching fic. Many fics dwell on the "wonder twins" aspect of Sam and Daniel, emphasising how close they are, in terms of both their friendship and their personality. This fic turns all of that about, and explores what happens when Sam makes a call that Daniel can never forgive. Told from Sam's POV.

This fic is one that will stay with you for a while. Go read it now! :P

Why This Must Be Read:

Fic couples, slash or het, almost always have perfect sex. Characters who bicker and misunderstand each other continually turn out to be able to divine each other's sexual desires as if by magic; kinks will always coincidentally happen to match perfectly.

[livejournal.com profile] janedavitt gives us something refreshing and rare: two characters actually having to talk and negotiate and work out a few things as they get to know each other, in bed and out of it. And it's marvellous, immaculately-characterized, and, oh yeah - very hot.

Why This Must Be Read: Because this is one "kick ass" AU. It takes our gang, and deftly places them all in WWII Europe, starting first during the war, then into the beginning of the Cold War. This series is honestly what got me more into the world of the all out AU, and it is so well written that you can just see it as happening. In addition, this series takes Sparky, and runs with it. It is unabashedly romantic without being melodramatic, and at points, just profoundly moving. It is wonderful to see Sparky playing out against events that change the world.

This is an evolving series, and I believe that the author intends on adding at least one more story.

Why This Must Be Read: Because much as I admire and adore Daniel, being his friend must be utterly exhausting. :)

Alienism takes place in the wake of Ascension, when Sam is still shaky from the blatant lack of trust from her commanding officers. It's clear that Daniel has been a staunch support for her during the past few days, but now he's come to demand… what, exactly? He feels that she's failed him; he isn't quite ready to spell out how, although it's all too clear that he expects Sam to already know. Told entirely from Sam's POV, Alienism allows us to see Sam's struggle to deal with her own feelings and simultaneously cope with Daniel's evident distress.

Are Daniel's expectations for her unrealistically high? Did Sam fail him, or should her efforts in canon and Orlin's response have been enough to satisfy Daniel? Sam doesn't quite know, although she seems to agree with Daniel by the end of the story. As the reader, I'm not quite sure if we're supposed to agree with Daniel or not. And an author that allows the reader to draw his or her own conclusions is obviously doing something right!
