Why this must be read Anybody with siblings, particularly brothers, will see the humor and, dare I say, the truth in this short ficlit. It is a quick story about John and Elizabeth's kids, so it's Sparky by extension, though they don't actually make an appearance together in this fic. But, I must admit, the idea of them having a family, especially these boys that sound so much like John, is just something that makes me smile. *grin*

Pairing: John/Teyla
Category: Het, drama, action-adventure, hurt comfort
Warning: PG-13 for some violence and strong language

Author's Website: Link: Summary: A diplomatic mission turns deadly for John Sheppard and Teyla when an old nemesis makes him the target of a technologically advanced civilization. The fic takes place between Season 2 episodes Inferno and Allies.

Why This Must Be Read: This is written by one of the most talented fanfic writers out there, seriously, she has capture the characters perfectly, even the OCs in this fic are outstandingly original and engaging. The plot which is interesting and complex is held throughout the entire story. I could so easily see this as an episode.

I know, this is not a popular pairing; but it’s all good, because I'm not looking for popular, I'm looking for something that works, and for me Teyla /John works. Bottom line this is brilliant storytelling and no matter who the pairing is I strongly encourage any and all to give it a read.

Why This Must Be Read:

This is lush and quiet and sweet, all about lying in the long grass on a hot summer's day. Both Cameron and Teal'c are deeply connected to their families, even when they're separated from or in conflict with them, and [livejournal.com profile] surrealphantast weaves that into this lyrical little story about coming home.

Why this must be read: This fic comes in 2 parts; the first from Daniels point of view and the second from Janet’s. I’m not a huge fan of Daniel on his own, but these two stories are absolutely heartbreaking. I love the pairing of Daniel/Janet and these two wonderful stories show just how deep their feelings for one another ran.

Greetings All! I'm Rigel ([livejournal.com profile] linnet_101) and I'll be recommending some of the Sam!Fic goodness I have bookmarked over the past year. My taste is pretty eclectic, but I tend to favour a good story with a strong Sam flavour. :D

Summary: SG1 travel back to P5S-381 to meet with the Gadmeer, who have requested the presence of Daniel Jackson.

Why This Must Be Read:

This excellent fic works as a follow up to the episode "Scorched Earth" - which you all might recall as an SG1-grey-area-of-ethics-colliding-with-orders, especially for Sam. This fic is set in early season 7, and is told from Sam's POV.

It's an exploration of the implications of advanced alien technology, and how the SGC (and the rest of humanity) must balance their desire for advancement against the sensibilities of their allies. It also touches on many of the unresolved tensions from "Scorched Earth."

It's a brilliant teamfic, and Sam's voice is very strong throughout.

Why This Must Be Read: In my del.ici.ous bookmarks, I have a story category for "cute". These are sweet stories, with a little humor (usually) and not a lot of angst (though there is some), that just leave me with a warm and happy feeling when I am done. So, as I picked a story yesterday from the dark!fic spectrum, I thought today would be a good day for something...well, cute.

In this story, John is reading the Atlantis classified and stumbles on an ad for someone who is looking for a sperm donor. This causes a lot of hoopla as word gets out; everyone has an idea on who it is who is asking, and why they would be the perfect donor. As the story progresses, John and Rodney get drawn together, and move from friendly rivals to more than just friends.

Oh, the story was originally posted in parts, so I have linked to the final piece of it. That one has links to all of the preceding bits.

Pairing: Rodney McKay/Carson Beckett

Warning: Slash, explicit sex
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] mice1900
Author's Website: Mice's Hole in the Wall
Link: Submerged

Why This Must Be Read: Probably a good twenty percent of all McKay/Beckett fics are written by Mice, who is both talented and prolific – qualities one appreciated in any fanfic author. The problem here is choosing one fic over the others for reccing. Submerged is a cliché done well. Rodney and Carson go exploring the city and get stuck in a room with the temperature dropping. To ward off hypothermia they’re forced to share body heat and, well, one thing leads to another, as they say. The sex is scorching hot without overlooking the emotional side of things. Mice categorises this as PWP but, at least for me, it’s much more than that.

Sam Walker at The Grove
Link: Saving Tantalus

Why This Must Be Read: This fun little story carries a hint of meta, but it's mostly about Sam understanding Daniel all too well and doing something to help him.

Saving Tantalus takes place sometime late in S3 or early in S4, when Sam wanders into Daniel's lab and finds him busy with… something. The revelation of just what Daniel is doing comes as no surprise: not only is it very Daniel-like, but it also makes sense, considering the natural frustration caused by his inability to disseminate the knowledge they possess to the general public. While Sam can't do anything about that particular problem, she does come up with a solution of sorts that leaves Daniel both moved and comforted.

While I'm not sure if the hint of meta is deliberate, I personally find the idea a lot more entertaining than the suggestion given in Citizen Joe… probably because it's a lot easier to see Daniel as storyteller than Jack O'Neill!
