Why This Must Be Read: It's a character study of Kate and Teyla, through Kate's eyes, and there's porn. What could be better? I enjoy characterization for Kate and Teyla, because we don't get enough of it on the show, and chelle gives realistic portrayals of strengths and weaknesses.

Why This Must Be Read: The series doesn't give us anything close to a moment where Elizabeth and Teyla can bond, so we have to make up the difference ourselves. Thank God for fanfic. In this story, Elizabeth and Teyla grow closer, and yes, Teyla's trust in Elizabeth can be proven via the use of eyeliner. Elizabeth shares an aspect of Earth culture with Teyla in a way that highlights the fact that Teyla is an alien to much of the Lanteans' understanding, but it also shows that there is a common bond and that both women enjoy the act of teaching and learning.

Why This Must Be Read: It's a Teyla POV fic, and it's not a typical shoot-em-up mission, which makes it unique, and not something you see often on the show. Teyla and the boys show up to the stereotypical women-only, Amazonian-style culture, and the boys-- Well, they're the boys. Do you even doubt that they'd goof something up? Getting them out of the fix they're in requires diplomacy, which...well, none of the rest of her team are skilled at. Through it all ,we see Teyla's mother as an influence in her life, and the developing closeness of the women of Atlantis, along with Kate and Teyla's relationship. I know it's another 'stepped into the cultures of Pegasus and screwed up' stories, but I like fics where Our Heroes don't know everything, and guns can't solve any problem. Also, it's a nice, long story, where the pace builds in a leisurely way and the resolution doesn't just come suddenly.

Why This Must Be Read: I have a soft spot for Rodney-and-Sam stories, whether romance or not, probably because a good number of them deal with how much Rodney's changed on Atlantis, and an outside witness (Sam) noticing that. Unsurprisingly and unfortunately, a good number of these stories end up being out-of-character and melodramatic. This story, though, is what I've found to be the cream of the crop.

Free 'Verse shows the changes in Rodney less overtly than in other stories I've read, but they're still very evident. The best part, though, is Rodney's characterisation. He's snarky without being mean, whiny without being annoying, smug without being overly arrogant. I'll admit, this is a feel-good story. But! A well written feel-good story with snarky dialogue, an interesting premise, and awesome physics.

This is one of those fics that perfectly captures the moment. Nothing forced and nothing shoved in your face. It's very natural and fluid, yet still captures who Sam and Teal'c are.
Plus, Daniel and Jack make an appearance. Yay classic team :)

Why This Must Be Read:

This is a different fic. It's in the second person. Normally, I wouldn't recc something like that since I am picky about tenses, but what I loved about this fic was the power behind it. The concept is an interesting one, highlighting the bond between Teal'c and Sam that is often read differently or overlooked altogether. I highly recommend it.

Why This Must Be Read:John sees something he really shouldn't.

(I know that was a short description, but it really does sum up the story well).

Can you imagine how much gossiping goes on in Atlantis? It is bad enough in an office, just think about having to live with your coworkers in a stressful environment. I bet the rumours just fly through the grapevine. This fic provides a short, funny look at the results of spending too much time listening to the rumour mill.
