Why This Must Be Read: The author said it so well that I decided to include her story note here: "This story contains spoilers for Meridian (foreshadowing) and Menace (after the fact), as well as names from many fifth season eps. I chose understanding, and in the end, I chose comfort before the events of Meridian. After the events of seasons four and five, I felt Daniel and Jack both deserved it…as did we."

This story is a lovely "fix-it" fic for those of us who felt there was something missing between Menace and Meridian. It fits neatly into that time frame. It focuses on the friendship between Jack and Daniel and the growing distance between them in seasons 4 & 5 by focusing on their thoughts as they are stuck in an isolation room together after they've both been contaminated off world.

It's a feel-good kind of story that is bittersweet since we know what is to come.

Why This Must Be Read: This story follows the events of the episode Beast of Burden and a little beyond from Jack's point of view. I should confess that Beast of Burden is one of my favorite episodes and one I consider to be one of the best episodes of the series--especially from season 5. I really enjoyed imagining (along with the author) what Jack might have been thinking through everything that was going on in that episode.

  Why This Must Be Read: I really do like the friendship between Rodney and Carson and in this fic that is a central theme. It has a great pace and more especially Carson ends up being the tough guy with out been out of character. It is a long fic, but the pace is always good and you just want to know what is going to happen next.
