Why This Must Be Read: Short, tense and painful, but ultimately hopeful. John's a good friend, and he watches his team's backs -- whether that means going "black ops" to get Rodney out of a terrible situation, or being able to help him find his way back from even darker mental places. I particularly loved the contrast that's visible here between John the ultra-competent soldier, and John the concerned friend.

You're welcome! It's a really lovely story, actually one of my very favorite short h/c stories with them (despite the overall lack of overt "c" to go with the "h" -- but John's worry comes through loud and clear).

... and thanks for the icon comment; it's been my default icon for a couple of years now, because I just love that Aurora quote so.
