Why This Must Be Read: This piece is not for the faint of heart. It is stark and painful, and just plain invokes a feeling of almost overwhelming sadness. But all of that, just serves to make the moment between Teyla and Rodney all the more poignant. The friendship of these two characters in the midst of all the anguish is just this lovely little light of hope.

And the insight into Teyla's character through Rodney's eyes is a nice touch. Through the scientist, we see both Teyla's inherent strength and her often hidden vulnerability. All in all, it is a moving piece of fic.
