Why This Must Be Read: After Daniel is raped on a mission, he works hard to recover, with the full support of Jack and the team. It's a very realistic look at the challenges Daniel faces, and overall a tremendously warm story with a lot of team love. Jack, especially, puts aside his selfish instincts and steps up to provide whatever it is Daniel needs to get better.

Excerpt:
The first phone call came at 1:22 the next morning. Fumbling the phone to his ear, Jack mumbled, "I can be there in fifteen minutes."

"Just talk to me," Daniel pleaded.

So Jack talked, groggily at first, about things at work, and what he’d watched on TV that night, and a bizarre letter to the editor in the evening newspaper. And Daniel shut his eyes, and cradled the phone to his ear, and let Jack’s voice wash over him.

Jack asked no questions, and only occasionally paused for breath. The lack of response from the man on the other end of the phone didn’t bother him in the slightest. He was helping. And Daniel had reached out. The relief Jack felt was staggering. He talked until his throat was dry and aching. When he finally fell silent, he could just make out deep, regular breathing in his ear. He laid and listened to it until he drifted back to sleep.
