Author's Notes about the Story
Why This Must Be Read: This is a story about The Light written from Daniel's perspective. In her notes, Redbyrd wrote: "Daniel's view of the episode 'The Light' was quite different from the rest of the team's." That's true. Everyone else knew what was going on. They knew more about what had happened to Daniel than Daniel did himself, at least at first. This story fills in all the wholes and brings this story to life in a way that makes sense for that episode, and for all of the characters, especially Daniel. Redbyrd even included Barber and the other members of SG-5 in such a way that I'd almost swear they were all in that episode as more than just people walking down the ramp.
I love the way she writes Daniel. I think she captures Daniel's voice so well, but also Jack's. This story has just the right touch of angst without becoming maudlin or sappy. She writes moments between the characters that have meaning without seeming over-dramatized.
This is really a lovely story. :-)
