Why This Must Be Read: This story has a fair amount of Jack whumping and quite a bit of Daniel whumping. The main theme of the story is about Jack & Daniel's friendship. It takes place sometime during season 5. Jack and Daniel are captured together and as they struggle with their situation, they begin to examine their relationship as they each try to see the other's side in things. I loved this story for this reason. It's not overdone or overly sentimental or too sweet. (It's not really sweet at all.) It's harsh and angsty, with no "baby" Daniel worrying whether or not Jack still loves him. I recognize the Jack and Daniel in this story. There's banter, there's humor, and there's understanding.
It has a happy ending. Teal'c and Sam are in the story to a small degree.
Excerpt from the story:
Crouching down to pick up the object, Jack’s eyes landed on a distinct shape on the ground. A bloody outline of a body curled up in the fetal position. God, Daniel. Anyone would have been hard pressed to bear a night in this horror. Daniel had done it with barely any indication of distress. He sometimes forgot just how strong his friend truly was, despite how outward appearances seemed on occasion. How he could ever forget such a thing was beyond him.
Excerpt from the story:
“But you don’t think that’s going to happen.”
“I think it should have already happened.”
“It might not mean anything.”
“It might mean everything.”
“Are we going to do this all day?”
“Would you like to do this all day?”
