Sha're. Amaunet. Dreams and the blurring of lines. Bleakly good.


In their dreams, Amaunet conjured feasts of strange fruits and bodies on the ground nearby. Sha’re supplemented the table with fresh breads and wrapped chocolate. She sat at one end of the conjured table dressed how she would have in Abydos, and across from her was her double, eyes glowing, and dressed in the garb of a system lord.

I adore Sha're beyond words and it's always a delight to find good fic about her. And yay, now I can add in your DWJ. :)

The thing about Sha're is on first viewing, she's kind of a nothing character -- She's really defined by her relationship to Daniel. But then, the more you look at what little we see of her, the more interesting she becomes. Her last line before being taken as a host is "I am not afraid of you"!!!!
I made a vid for her and Amaunet, and 1) THEY ARE ONLY IN THREE EPISODES IN THE ENTIRE SHOW WHY HOW, 2) It really got me thinking about her. I'd love to hear your Sha're thoughts!

She's only a "nothing character" if you haven't seen the movie, where she is literally the impetus for the rebellion against Ra. And as you say, she is not meek Mrs. Daniel Jackson even on the show, although you do have to be looking for it!

I actually hadn't seen the movie until I was on season 5 of SG-1, I think! It was really interesting to see what Shau'ri was like there, especially her language/communication skills (which as you discuss in your meta is an extreme demonstration of rebellion against Ra's rule).

It's interesting reading your Sha're meta; some of what I interpret as Amaunet's actions, you've interpreted as Sha're's influence on her/their actions. I wish we could have seen more of her in the show, especially more from her own point of view. Even if it had been another quantum mirrorverse...

The S10 episode with multiple SG-1 teams had a deleted scene with one of the Daniels casually referencing something he and Sha're were doing in Abydos...

But yes, that blurring of the lines is so fascinating. That's why I liked your fic so much!
