Why This Must Be Read Heard: I'm reccing podfic faves this month, and will try to choose ones that you can stream easily, for better access and to encourage anyone who hasn't yet tried podfics. Starting with this excellent recording of Rheanna's story where yet another pesky ancient device has swapped John and Rodney's vocal processes so that Rodney speaks through John and vice versa. It's a great choice as DesireeArmfeldt manages to speak Rodney's words in a slower drawl, and John's laid-back comments in Rodney's usual hyper style. It's funny and sexy, read with wonderful flair and nuance, as Rodney and John inevitably end up sharing more than just their speech centers.

Why This Must Be Read: I just love angsty DADT fics, and this is an interesting take on the application of the policy: everyone in the armed forces or US government gets a chip that stops them acting or speaking in any way that violates DADT. Rodney didn't give it a second thought when he signed up. Cue one John Sheppard walking into his life and things get complicated. What I love most about this fic are the awfully poignant and subtle ways people try to get around the policy and the chip, the deep sense of righteous anger that John has (and the ways he resents Rodney's seemingly blasé attitude about it), and the absolutely satisfyingly smug way in which Rodney saves the day. If you like reading DADT type McShep fics, this is a must read.
