Summary: Lorne was royally screwed. Not because he had just found out that his commander has a thing for him and he didn't return his feelings, it was because he did. The only thing that stood in the way was Lorne's integrity, and he wasn't sure he was such an honorable man.


Why This Must Be Read: Ayama_chi creates another excellent story of how John and Evan both fight for their love to each other and their commitment to their duty as servicemen. Through the entire story, you can see them constantly orbiting each other and when they do finally get together, the reader cheers for the two of them. Excellent characterization and storyline.

Summary: After her experience aboard "Prometheus" Sam decides to finally get a life but is shocked when Janet tells her she's pregnant, which is simply impossible. Fearing the child isn't human she and SG-1 try to find answers but the truth is something they are completely unprepared for.

Why This Must Be Read: Fems is one of my favorite authors, with long fics as well as one-shot. This is one of her best works, and pictures Sam dealing with an unexpected and even unwelcome pregnancy that is about to change her way so completely that terrifies her. I like that Sam, here, is honest and raw; she is scared, so she tries to approach everything in a scientific and rational manner because, let's face it, it is all she knows. It's one of the best Sam Carters i've ever read in fics.

Why this must be read: Even though this is Sam/Jack romance, this is mostly a Sam piece. She and Jack are finally together and expecting a baby, and then she has a miscarriage (I'm not spoiling you here, this is like the first two paragraphs of the story). And now she has to deal with her feelings and expectations and the changes in her life and her relationship with Jack. It's angsty, but beautifully written - Nazmuko is a great writer.

Summary: Three months ago she was a soldier. Yesterday she was a mother-to-be. Today? That's what she needs to figure out before she can be happy with him. A tragedy forces Sam to rethink what she wants from her life. S/J with a happy ending.

Why this must be read: Unlike my other recs this month, this is a one-snot. It takes place post-season 8, and features Sam depressed because of Jack's dead, a year before. And then he's there, in front of her. But in the state she's in, he surely must be a figment of her imagination. Like other Nazmuko stories, it is well-written and sweet, even with the angst.

Summary: Jack has been dead for almost a year but now he's standing on her porch. Sam is sure this is just another dream again because it's a little late for miracles. Or is it? S/J
