Again with the imagery, this fic will leave images in your head that are almost guaranteed to begin nightmares. This fic explores how some Pegasus natives deal with the constant death that is so prevalent in a galaxy with the Wraith. Where SGA-1 end up is straight out of a horror flick, I kid you not. In a world filled with the stench and image of decay and death, they try and make it to the Stargate and home. This fic will leave you shivering in your chair and thanking whatever deity you hold dear that you aren't in their shoes...

Why This Must Be Read: In four quietly charming scenes (two at home framed by two at work), the author paints a memorable portrait of Season 8 established-relationship Jack and Daniel, and as far as I'm concerned the defining one. A language that will "make the diplomats nuts," Jack and Daniel communicating on levels far beyond the verbal, Daniel getting to be a linguist (and do a bad Robert De Niro impression), an easygoing, grown-up volley of double entendres as bonus illustration, a perfectly inevitable and grin-inducing last line ... all rendered in Brighid's trademark beautiful prose.

About 2000 words, and when you're done reading, if the author's work is new to you please consider checking out the rest of her fic. This one is a personal favorite, but really her whole oeuvre should be recced.

Why This Must Be Read: Last month, I recced a delightful teamy crackfic in which dead-again-Daniel returned as an Ascended cat. This time, it's a rather hapless Jack that's been transformed into a dog by some giggling, pink-haired off-worlders. Yet despite the sheer crackiness of the premise, this fic is full of friendship and thoughtfulness and lovely characterization and... okay, yes, quite a bit of humor, too! Guaranteed to leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling of team love. :)

Reccer's note: While this gen reader had absolutely no trouble seeing certain parts of this as strictly Sam and Jack friendship -- and the author also classifies it as gen -- Sam/Jack shippers can happily don their own glasses and read this fic accordingly.
