This story contains wonderful worldbuilding. John is stranded on a gate-less planet and has to learn to survive its harsh land and culture. The author supplies just enough information to be able to visualize his trials and the reasons behind them, and allow the reader to make assumptions for the rest. John has little hope of rescue from his exile, but then there is Rodney and the Atlantis crew that challenge what is known in order to find their missing friend and commander.

Why this must be read: The truth is, Sam didn't want Cassie to move in with her after Janet's death. This is one of the most heartbreaking stories I have read in the fandom, and an excellent character study of Samantha Carter. Very insightful look into Sam and Cassie's relationship with a small side exploration of Sam and Jack. This story is a remix version of the equally excellent Tether, which was recced here a while ago, but Karen T gives the story a completely different angle which twists the knife in your heart a little deeper.

Why this must be read: It's almost the end of the world, but they've still got their snark on. Great dialogue and banter - the perfect way for SG-1 to go out fighting - right after they get donuts, of course. Tallulah takes what could be a angst filled situation and without minimizing the seriousness of it all, has you laughing along with the team as they prepare for their last stand. Tallulah categorized this story under "stories I couldn't get right," but I think she did.
