I'm in yer comm, reccin yer Easter Bunny!

Rec Category: Easter
Pairing: none
Category: holiday, sg-1, Daniel Jackson, Teal'c, humor, gen, missing scene
Warning: the rec category should be warning enough!

Why This Must Be Read: This is Teal'c. And Earth customs. And Daniel, not knowing if Teal'c is yanking his chain or not, wishing all hell would break loose so he could get out of this conversation. The author makes excellent use of the canon humor styles of the characters. And now, I need to go rewatch Camelot to see exactly where this fits in!  Read. Enjoy. Peep to the author.

oh, I've got more bad puns where that came from!

Why This Must Be Read:

Oh, happy day that [livejournal.com profile] princessofg finished this during my watch as Jack/Daniel reccer! I used to think it was odd to see people start a rec by saying, "I don't usually like [whatever]" except that it takes an exceptional story to overcome a generalized dislike of a trope or story type. I'm somewhat more partial to AUs than I am to vampire stories, but they're far from my favorite.

Then there's this one.

Set in the South in the 1950s, Jack is a Naval pilot and Daniel is a college professor with shady ties to the intelligence community. They meet in a local blues club and the rest, as they say, is history. [livejournal.com profile] princessofg has given us a beautiful, sultry look at two men falling in love in secret. As is the case with AUs, some facets of their lives are different than the Jack and Daniel of the SGC, but she has kept the core of their personalities in place. Their meetings in Daniel's house are hot and sexy and your heart breaks for them both as you watch them struggling to figure out just how "their sort" can have anything more than meaningless one night stands. The Southern Comfort's cool, the jazz is hot and the men are incandescent.

Why This Must Be Read: Because I keep going back to it, despite the fact that I think the nonlinear nature of the story distracts from the storytelling. It's very gentle, without being too soft or gooey; I particularly like the fiercely loving, yet self-contained, Jack that Kres gives us here.

Why This Must Be Read: I'll tell you one thing - the name is slightly misleading. Yes, technically, Cameron doesn't lose his pants but, um, there still manages to be really hot porn and if there's more to life than that? I don't want to know it. This is PWP of the absolute best kind. You've got characterization, a hint of background plot to explain how this pairing came about in the first place, and then... yeah, just hotness.

In the words of many fangirls, there needs to be more Cameron/Weir in the world. ;)
