Why this must be read:

“Tomorrow this either stops existing, or I start a war because you’re all dead and there’s no one else left to do it"

Most stories in the SG1 verse have SG1 saving the day, with Janet being safely in the infirmary waiting to deal with the after effects. Second Front gives her the opportunity to be on the front line. What makes this story even more unusual is that she isn't assisting SG1, she's leading the unlikely group of Jacob, Rodney, Walter and Major Griff. Based on the idea that SG1 didn't succeed in 2010, Janet promised Daniel that she would help to free their people from the Aschen

In 2010 Janet made reference to the fact that her job no longer really existed. This idea is expanded upon in Second Front, with Janet trying to reconcile the doctor side of herself with the side that had to kill Aschen to achieve their goals. 

There is only a small amount of Daniel/Janet in this fic, but the understanding they reach makes you wish that they had been able to stay together

Why This Must Be Read: Since aurora_novarum is a regular campaigner for more Sam and Jack friendship fics, it only makes sense that she would write one of her own!

 

This fun little story is set early season, as the team tries to take Teal'c shopping for casual wear. Sam makes a little side-trip of her own, but when she meets up with Jack, he's a little taken aback to discover just what she purchased... and Sam, in turn, is pleasantly surprised at how very interested her CO becomes at her shopping choices!

 

Humor and friendship and even affectionate poking at some of Teal'c's preferences in casual styles - it's all here, and it's all good!

Why This Must Be Read: Three words: SPACE PIRATE AU! \o/

... okay, seriously, this story had me at "space pirates!" but there's actually a plot, too. Following the (presumed) destruction of Earth, refugee John Sheppard escapes into the Pegasus Galaxy and hooks up with Ronon, Teyla and Zoe from Firefly (which startled me a bit at first, but she integrates surprisingly well into the Stargate 'verse), plus the Athosians and a captured ship or two. A raid against the Genii leads John and his pirates to more Earth refugees, and they are drawn into a web of mystery and deceit. The AU universe is very vivid and well-constructed, and I loved this version of John, a rootless and isolated man who has lost his entire world, both similar to and different from the Sheppard we know in canon.

Why This Must Be Read: This is one of my favourite missing scene's ever, and nice Gen Team one shot set during Upgrades. It's only short, but you get a beautiful look into the team. It's got fantastic dialogue and a fantastic feel for that teamy goodness we love.

This was one of the great entries in the recent revival of the sg1teamficathon.

No big booms or cracky humor. Instead, settiai weaves a lovely, quiet scene that should be savored. Set in the limbo between Seasons 8-9, everyone are looking to go their separate ways. But while they're still on base, the science team from Langara arrives, including an old friend.

There's bittersweet, nostalgic reflections by each of the team members, and when Jonas arrives, there is a real sense of camaraderie as they all take a vacation together, to Jack's favorite getaway.
