Hi, I'm
friendshipper and I'm your John Sheppard reccer this month!
Rec Category: John Sheppard
Pairing: none
Category: Atlantis, AU
Warning: apocalyptic AU; crossover with Firefly (but the crossover elements are mild, and familiarity with the other canon is not required)
Author on LJ:
ltlj
Author's Website: Water Gate
Link: Raiders of the Seven Systems
Why This Must Be Read: Three words: SPACE PIRATE AU! \o/
... okay, seriously, this story had me at "space pirates!" but there's actually a plot, too. Following the (presumed) destruction of Earth, refugee John Sheppard escapes into the Pegasus Galaxy and hooks up with Ronon, Teyla and Zoe from Firefly (which startled me a bit at first, but she integrates surprisingly well into the Stargate 'verse), plus the Athosians and a captured ship or two. A raid against the Genii leads John and his pirates to more Earth refugees, and they are drawn into a web of mystery and deceit. The AU universe is very vivid and well-constructed, and I loved this version of John, a rootless and isolated man who has lost his entire world, both similar to and different from the Sheppard we know in canon.
