Why This Must Be Read: This is a must read for every fan of John/Elizabeth and Battlestar Galactica. Using the author's summary, John gets his team hooked on Battlestar Galactica. Of course, this means time spent with Elizabeth, some flirting and relating the characters' lives from BSG to their own.

Extract: "John--" she protested weekly.

Strong hands grabbed the sides of her chest and she was suddenly on her feet.

"Don't kick me," he warned as he moved to lift her up.

"John?" she started surprised.

"It's Battlestar Galactica," he informed her smoothly. "And you have to see it."

Why This Must Be Read

No-one is sleeping.

While I also love basingstoke's Ceasefire, I chose to rec Armistice because, Carson! (Just for your information, Sunday doesn't exist until I've seen it, and don't know if I plan to see it ever...)

Armistice is set post-The Siege III. It's over, but out heroes still find it hard to get any sleep. To say anything more would be to spoil the reading experience.

While I read fanfic mostly for characters and plot, this is one of the fics I come back to over and over again because of the language. It's only a little over 1000 words, but not one word is unnecessary and the whole thing flows so beautifully that I never get tired of reading it. I wish I could explain it better but you'll just have to go and see for yourselves.

Why This Must Be Read: I can't do a month of McKay/Beckett without reccing Mice. I consider him the crème de la crème of the pairing (and I know I am not alone). I also consider this story possibly one of his finest works. The emotional roller coaster ride he takes the reader on after Carson gets sick upon returning from an off-world adventure is simply riveting. He has the dynamics of the relationship between McKay and Beckett down pat and does a wonderful job of drawing remaining cast as well.

Why This Must Be Read: Daniel’s unique ability to think “outside the box” is instrumental in opening the Stargate and saving the world. In this engaging story, Bethj gives us Barbara Warner, Daniel’s childhood neighbor, who first introduces nine-year-old Daniel to the idea of solving a challenge by considering the problem from a different perspective.

The story begins with Daniel as a child, pauses at a single scene when he’s eighteen, then shifts to the beginning of the SG-1 years, complete with Jack and Daniel sitting on Jack’s roof to watch the stars after the destruction of Apophis’ motherships. With so much fanon emphasis on Daniel’s imagined abused childhood, it’s doubly charming to read of a long-term placement with caring foster parents, complete with good neighbors and solid foundations. This story is a quiet slice of character and a quick yet thoughtful read.

(And no, Bill and Susan Mitchell, Daniel’s delightful foster parents, are not related to Cameron. This fic was written before Season Five aired.)

Warning: Spoilers for Lifeboat (Ep. 7x06)
Website: www.stargatefan.com
Link: Alone in the Crowd

Why this must be read:
We see the episode, our hearts breaking for our poor, poor Daniel, and finally, in the end, it all turns out, happy ever after, warm fuzzies and all that... well, at least for the time. This fic picks up where Lifeboat left off and gives us a little peek at how Daniel and the others deal with his recovery from the ordeal.

Enjoy... I did.
