Why This Must Be Read: This story follows the progression of Elizabeth and her relationships with the rest of the expedition (specifically Carson, Teyla, Rodney, Ronon and John) throughout five years in Atlantis.  It's an interesting look at how she might see herself and others, and how she might grow to be more than just an expedition leader with the people around her; that she doesn't have to be outside looking in.

Why this must be read:  Jack gets a call in the middle of the night from an old black ops buddy.  He heads out, presumably to rescue someone from a bad situation, and encounters an even worse situation than he thought possible.  This is set midway into Season 7.  You die hards all know this is the point in which Jack is a good deal less touchy-feely than he was in earlier, pre-Ascension/Descension times.   And we see how Daniel...copes.  There is so much OUCH in this story, you will feel your own heart break for Jack, but it is the fact that the story can pull you in and carry you along with his pain that makes it such a good read.

Why this must be read:   Not all the stories written for apocalypse_kree were of the angst variety and this is a worthy example.  The team is on P4X-669, where the local artwork is quite...showy.  Daniel is doing his archaeologist thing, Sam is doing her rocket scientist thing (when she can keep her eyes on her work), Teal'c is doing the "keep an eye on those two" thing...so Jack heads off to do his thing.  A quick snooze. What he finds when he returns will have you grinning from ear to ear.  And I just love Sam's reaction here.  God love her!

Why This Must Be Read: duckduck's SGA fics always promise brilliant characterization and interesting dialogue. "Buddy Breathing" is no exception. It's a lovely look at how Rodney and Radek might have their first time.

Excerpt: Radek looked at him over his glasses. "Tell me of what you miss most from Canada."

"Tim Horton's." At Radek's confused glance, he added, "donut shop. They have these amazing caramel smoothies. Well, they're hot, so the term smoothie is sort of misleading. It's like a hot cocoa, only with caramel. Oh, god."

"Food," Zelenka started incredulously. "You are away from your home for three years and you miss food?"

"It's Tim Horton's!"
