Why This Must Be Read:  [profile] rhian_morwenna does a brilliant job with these two very unusual crossover pornlets told from the point of view of Harry Dresden.  She not only writes some very, very hot porn, but manages to include some excellent characterization in the short space and gives a fantastic view into the mind of one Harry Dresden, Wizard and private investigator, and an outsider's look at John Sheppard.  No kidding, this crossover really works, despite the difference in the two universes.  [profile] rhian_morwenna is working on adding to these, so if you enjoy them (and I'm certain that you will), stay tuned and look for more on her journal.

Oh, and you may not want to eat or drink while reading.  After all, it's Harry Dresden, which means humor, not to mention snarkasm equaled only by that of Rodney McKay.

P.S.  If you enjoy unusual crossovers as well as porn, there are some excellent ones over at the Porn Battle site!  Just click on the By Fandom icon at the top and scroll down to crossovers (and don't forget to stop in to check out the ones for your favorite fandoms as well).

Why This Must Be Read: Yes, I know I am reccing Sheppard/McKay this month, so why put this under the Rodney McKay category (other than I haven't hit 4 yet)? Well the main reason this story made my "to be recced" list had more to do with the exchanges between McKay and the crazed gay yenta (aka Zelenka) and less with the very fine McKay/Sheppard moments. The authors have the friendship between Rodney and Radek down pat.

I just realized how many posts I've made in the last few days and feel I like I am spamming the community. I do apologize to those uninterested in my categories.

Why This Must Be Read: Because there is something delicious about enjoying a well written Harlequin inspired story. Come on admit it, sometimes sappy romance just hits the spot. This lovely AU not only contains some hot McKay/Sheppard moments, but also includes the very enjoyable casting ofCadman as Rodney's assistant. McKay's bonding with 'Sheppard Junior' makes great use of his canon tendency to treat kids the same way he does adults.

Why This Must Be Read: it's the blurb that drew me in. Maybe it's just the movies that have given him an unrealistic expectation of assassins, but unless this guy's the most incompetent assassin *ever*--and considering who Rodney McKay is, they wouldn't hire someone *dumb* would they?--really, Rodney should be dead. long story short: Rodney's a scientist who used to work for the government, and when he discovered something dangerous, he destroyed everything and is now on the run. John is a maybe-assasin who has tracked him down.
The sequels Puerto Vallarta and Mexico City are also at jenn's site along with some lovely cover art for all three.

Why This Must Be Read: Calm, quiet and serene: that's how you may well feel, reading this beautiful piece. It's not long, but it tells so much of something greater than what's here, and even the romance in this story is gentle. The author's own summary puts it well: "The horizon is a lonely place, particularly when seen through her eyes."

Pairing: none
Categories: Daniel Jackson, gen, Jack and Daniel friendship, character study
Warnings: none
Author on LJ: [info]thepouncer
Author's Website: unknown
Link: Number 3, 1949: Tiger

Why This Must Be Read: In this somewhat melancholy story, Pouncer gives us a Daniel who is drifting, just a little. When even the wondrous begins to seem routine, and the magic of other worlds is so disconnected from the reality of life on Earth, where, exactly, does that leave Daniel Jackson?

Fortunately, it leaves him with Jack O’Neill, a friend who understands Daniel’s abstraction and knows just how to lead him back onto firmer ground.

Written with lovely background detail and a light, deft touch, Pouncer gives us a glimpse into the subtle tangles of Daniel’s mind, and the comfortable solidity of the friend who helps him remember who he really is.

Maybe he should remember how to explore Earth, not just far-flung worlds.

Why This Must Be Read:  The subtitle to this fic provides a more apt description than I could craft:  Four Ways Elizabeth Weir Never Fell Apart and One Way She May Have.

This is an excellent exploration of the ways in which our expedition leader deals with five of the more trying experiences she's had in Pegasus.  It's a well written piece that takes a thoughtful look at Elizabeth, probing the strength and depth of her character -- the core that exists even in weakness.

Howdy! I'm [livejournal.com profile] springwoof, your Gen reccer for August. My gen tastes are…eclectic, though I tend to enjoy team-centric and minor-character-focused stories and have a great fondness for AUs and Crossovers.

Why This Must Be Read: This cool story was originally written for the [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic's Strange New Worlds and Alien Geography Challenge. Insightful characterization, sly fannish injokes, humor that will put a silly grin on your face, and the clincher—a really great alien monster.
