Why This Must Be Read: While as a general rule, one should read everything ever written by Nanda, this fic is a particularly great look at Jack in season one.  This gem was written for the last team ficathon.  Nanda writes that the working title for this fic was “How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love My Job,” which pretty much sums it up.  We have Jack worrying about his new team, observing their various quirks (including a propensity for falling into trouble without seemingly even trying), escaping capture, and, in the end, realizing that maybe he's got a pretty great job after all.  Nanda is the master of the characters voices and always has the perfect mix of action/adventure and humor that does the show justice.  Happy reading!

Why This Must Be Read: CA was one of the first authors I stumbled across in the fandom, and she remains one of my favorites. Yes, this is a Christmas story, but it's a good look at the friendship of first season Jack and Daniel complete with some small team moments as well as Janet and Cassie. Christmas in July, right?
