Why This Must Be Read: For the pairing alone :-) Well, no; for the pairing and the fact that as Casspeach says in the author notes Whilst rewatching the ep for the purposes of research I realised they actually have no screentime together whatsoever and she still makes it work.

This fic is based on the premise that when McKay is exiled to Russia after 48 Hours, Major Davis goes with him to tie up some loose ends from the DHD bargain. The fic covers the first few days of their time in a Russian hotel and there's a wonderful fumbling, frustrated feeling to the relationship that's formed between two tired, isolated men seeing a little of each other's secrets, but not enough to make it easy.

It's written from Paul's POV and we get to see not so much what lies beneath Rodney's abrasive exterior but the reasons for it. Rodney comes over as slightly weird (which, let's face it, he is) but not off-puttingly so. In fact, it's quite funny at times.

It is a WIP, last updated 7/11/05, but unless you have a severe allergic reaction to WIPs, this one's safe; it ends in a good enough place to be satisfying (although I'd love to see more).

Why This Must Be Read: I'm a huge fan of character-driven stories, and this one really fits the bill. Focusing on Dean Winchester (and taking it AU from the show Supernatural), we follow Dean as he becomes embroiled in the Stargate program and becomes a part of Daniel Jackson's life, and then the Atlantis program. laniew1 packs a lot of emotion and movement into this short story.

Why This Must Be Read:
What can I say.....I'm not really sure, I don't think words can describe how amazing this fic is; it's possibly the best written fic I have ever read. It has perfect characterization and I would agree that Irony has grasped exactly what the city is/was like 10,000 years ago.

There is a lot of character development in this plot of "what if"; what if both Elizabeth and John had escaped the jumper crash in Before I Sleep and met a whole host of beautiful and nasty characters in their attempt to deal with emotional traumas and save themselves, and in turn their future selves.

I have to say, it's had me on the edge of my seat for nearly 2 months, it's made me laugh, made me cry *I kid you not* and has left readers squee-ing for more from the first paragraph, and that is why everyone has to read this fic.

Because Speckleberry never stops writing amzaing fic and she has an amazing ability to write!!! This fic is perfectly balanced between a little bit of fluff, loads and loads of angst and little back stories that very much in-character explore both John and Elizabeth's pasts. You'll be crying by the end but it really is beautiful, and that in short is why you should read this.

Why This Must Be Read: In Quantum Leap, Al is usually the one in charge, so it's fun to see him totally flummoxed by everyone's favourite Marine, Lieutenant Laura Cadman. Wacky things happen in Atlantis, and the way Cadman deals with seeing Al, and being in the Waiting Room, are totally in character for her and for SGA universe.

This was one of the fics for the Sam Carter Ficathon. It's cute, funny, and borderline bizarre, but not in a pure cracktastic way. It has the signature Stargate feel and it has a strong Sam Carter in the forefront to boot.

Why This Must Be Read: It's a Sam and Walter Harriman friendship fic!

Why should you read something like that, you say? I'm a firm believer that we can learn a lot of characters through other characters, and often this is accomplished in fresh new ways with secondary characters. This is a great fic that explores both Sam and Walter and how their own skills and strengths can compliment each other in the face of danger.

Because there simply isn't enough Teyla femmeslash out there and this is one of the best. In this beautifully written story we get a smidgen of Teyla backstory, a very well characterized Teyla and hilarious and heart warming team scenes. This story is gorgeous and must be read.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a nice little fic that highlights Sam's friendship with Teal'c in light of the difficult changes she is going through as she and her friends part ways (Fic takes place at the end of Season 8/start of Season 9.) It's sweet, but painful, yet still manages to capture that spirit of hope.

Why This Must Be Read: I'm a fan of fics that explore changes that characters go through. In this case, we have Sam still struggling with the after affects of being blended with a Tok'ra. But is' more than that. It's also a tale of Sam finding herself again with the support of her team and that of her father, wrapped within a team adventure off-world.
