Why This Must Be Read: First of all, anything by Otter is gonna be good. You'll get plot, characterization, the whole ball of wax. Second, while dark, this short fic stays with you. It hurts, but it hurts so good. Daniel is lost and quietly desperate and over the edge but manages to function, at least well enough to drive a car. And somehow finds his way back home.

Why This Must Be Read: The author manages to convey both characters realistically while alone together and separated in a dangerous situation, skipping the usual cliché of Elizabeth's refusing to bear arms on principle in a life-threatening moment (and I've never felt that was something she would do). Considering that it's written in her second language, she also tells a story far better than some writers for whom English is their first.

“I’m surprised you didn’t ask me why you’re here?”

She hoped her voice sounded normal and firm when Elizabeth replied with narrowed eyes. “I figured you’d tell me eventually. Was I wrong?”

He smiled as he started pacing leisurely in front of her. “You came to negotiate a treaty with our government, did you not?”

Why This Must Be Read: A heated discussion in the briefing room between Letters From Pegasus and The Gift leads Teyla to find out that for Elizabeth Weir, it's not about winning, but about what's at stake. To quote the author, "What was once supposed to be an episode tag turned into (for me, anyway) an homage to the idealism the characters lost during the course of season 2 in order to survive." As the aforementioned homage to idealism, it is an excellent piece of writing.

"I've given you more freedom during this expedition than I expected to. I've let you run the military contingent largely the way you best saw fit. I've consulted with you and taken your advice, but I've also butted heads with you more than once." Elizabeth was leaning against the railing now, one arm supporting her weight as she turned her body towards John. "I had hoped that after all that we were working with the same level of dedication and that we had the same goals for this expedition in mind. But now I wonder if I haven't been asking you for enough."

John looked at her helplessly. "I don't know what you're asking of me right now."

Why This Must Be Read: This builds from the classic fandom cliche of "aliens made them do it", but it works soooo much better. The author writes a new take on Daniel's appendix and weaves together a whole society and culture to trap us (much like Jack and Daniel are trapped). This story takes twists and turns and unexpectedly pulls you into the mystery and the hurt and comfort as well as the angst. The technology, the surroundings, the characterization is spot on. It is a LONG story, well worth the time though.

This one isn't much of a team story, main focus is on Jack and Daniel. Take care to read the warnings especially if Slash is not your thing. I will be reccing some other team centric stories as well, but I just had to share this one! Go, read!

Why This Must Be Read: Why? Because who can resist our team just being themselves in a ridiculous situation? They snark at each other, and THEY FIGHT ZOMBIES!!! It's a well-written and fun story. Perfect for those days when you just want a quick, wonderful read and something that's not too heavy.
