Why This Must Be Read: This is more of a Sam and Teal'c friendship fic than Sam/Teal'c shippy fic, but I wanted to rec it regardless. I love stories that make me think, and when I read this a few weeks after seeing "The Changeling" for the first time, it gave me a totally new perspective of the end of the episode.

Why This Must Be Read: This story is a missing scene for Enemies. Phoenix E has a very unique and insightful look at the events in that episode and in previous ones. This story takes place from the beginning of Jack & Daniel's conversation on the ship and continues through to the beginning of their playing with the ball. This story is mostly from Daniel's point of view, but quite a lot of it is actually about Jack, and they are both thinking and talking quite a lot about Teal'c. This story is not at all sappy. It's just a good moment between Daniel & Jack which showcases their friendship and gives some insight into what they may have been thinking at that time.

Why This Must Be Read: This story is an episode tag to Threshold and a companion piece and sequel to Phoenix E's Blind Spot. Biblio carries forth the intensity of the Daniel and Jack friendship from the first story as Jack and Daniel try to work out how they feel about what has happened with Teal'c. A lot of feelings about many things from previous episodes are brought out in the course of this story, so it brings some resolution or continuity to many things that were left open-ended or simply hanging on the show. (The references to Secrets, Forever in a Day, and Absolute Power are particularly relevant and powerful.)

Even though we really didn't see Jack and Daniel have these types of conversations on the show, I have to believe that they did have such conversations now and then because they had a certain understanding of each other and knew things about each other that had to come from somewhere. I also believe that they did have that sort of "knowing without speaking" thing at times, though not in the form of telepathy, but just from a deep understanding of each other. This story shows us how and why they understand each other so well.

Why This Must Be Read: This is one of the first Stargate stories that I ever read and is still one of my favorites. This story is an episode tag for New Ground, and deals mainly with Daniel's feelings about what happened in that episode. It first focuses on Daniel from Jack's point of view, then switches to Daniel's point of view about halfway through. There are some nice moments here as well as a little humor--exactly the tone of the show at that time.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a lovely fic that in the first part goes back and forth from the time in the Antarctic to John having a conversation with Jack O’Neil. The second part is them in Atlantis. It is pre-slash and fun yet serious at the same time. The build up to their relationship and the ending are wonderful.
