WHY READ?:

Much like the movie Memento, this story is told backwards; it's an AU post-Siege II. With each piece, more and more of the story is revealed, and when you get to the end, you'll want to read it all over again. Canadian_snoopy captures Rodney McKay's snarkiness and bravery, and gives us a story that's utterly believable.

Why This Must Be Read: This story evidently comes in two versions, both slash and gen, but I confess to being partial to the gen version, because this is All About Jack. I'm fascinated by glimpses into Jack's time with Special Ops, and this little vignette just twists my heart. We all know Jack was quite the hard-ass from his Special Ops days - he had to be - but the fact that he survived with so much of his humanity intact has to mean that there were moments when, well, being in the moment must have damn near torn him apart. To say that he could just "shut it off" and do his job is the easy and somewhat simplistic answer, and this piece shows us a bit of how Jack managed to do that when he had to. More than that, it shows us a bit of the burden that it forces him to carry every day. Told in the second person (usually my least favorite voice, but done beautifully here), it's matter-of-fact, understated, and simply gut-wrenching.

Why This Must be Read: I'm not normally a big fan of AU's but I liked this one. It's dark, disturbing (to me), and you really get to see inside Daniel's head as he witnesses one atrocity after another as Apophis's host.

First off, I'm pleasantly amazed at the number of recs we've been having. It's sooooo great!

However, I don't put them all into memories until closer to the end of the month. To make this a bit easier for me, I'd like to ask that you list the Rec Category first, please.

The Rec Category is the category you signed up to rec for the month. Later on, you'll be able to list all the categories the story encompasses. But the Rec Category is how I place it in the memories and that should be the category you volunteered to rec.

Also, make sure you're putting the Title, Author in the subject header, please. I don't put it in memories as anything other than those two items. It's easier to check the list that way.

Thank you guys soooo much for your participation!
