I'm late with my recs. My excuse is that I've been travelling and have only just had a chance to recap my favourite fics.

Anyway, I'm reccing both Het and Action-Adventure for this month.

TITLE: Through A Glass Darkly
AUTHOR: Apocrypha
REC CATEGORY: Action-Adventure
PAIRING: no pairing
CATEGORY: Gen, Action-adventure, Drama, AU
WARNING: A lot of injury
AUTHOR ON LJ: Author has no LJ as far as I know
AUTHOR'S WEBSITE: Author has no website as far as I know
LINK: http://www.stargatefan.com/fictionqz/Through%20a%20Glass%20Darkly.htm
WHY READ?: I love AU's and this one shows a particularly scary iteration possibility: a military Daniel Jackson who is not a very nice person. SG-1 go through to another universe and find themselves the 'guests' of an operation that looks more like the NID than the SGC. This story is great because it features the whole team, some rather cool action sequences, and Daniel Jackson, dark and bitter. Very enjoyable.

WHY READ?:
I could swear this had been recced at some point, but I don't see it in the memories, so here goes.

Back in the dark depths of winter, [livejournal.com profile] troyswann came up with a curious idea. What if Daniel had never joined the Stargate program, Charlie hadn't killed himself, and Daniel and Jack both wound up on Atlantis? She decided to write a pilot, and then opened up the universe for everyone to play in. And boy, did people take it and run with it! There have been AUs of her AU, and threads spinning off in a million different directions.

To understand what's going on, however, it helps to start at the beginning. And that's what I'm recommending here. Salieri writes a fascinating story, much of it from Daniel's point of view. It takes the place of Rising, and everything's a bit, well, different, in fascinating ways. Watching the dynamics play out between the characters is fascinating, especially (to me, at least) a Daniel and Rodney who have a long and checkered past together. It's got romance, tension, action, adventure, thinky bits, humor - in other words, it's everything you could ever want in a story.

What are you waiting for? Go - sink yourself into this great story. (As a bonus, after the end of the Pilot there's a couple of snippets - think of them as "Preview for next week on Pegasus B!") If you like it, you can check out the Pegasus B Story Guide to find more, or just keep an eye on this community - I'll be reccing a couple more stories from that AU before the month is out.
