I didn't have time to go hunting for another fic, so you're getting another rec of this author. Frankly, she might not write Sam/Jack all the time, but when she does, it's definitely worth it.

WHY READ?: While she was writing this story, it got repeatedly referred to as 'the weird-ass AU'. It's an accurate way of describing a fic series which starts out at the beginning of the TV series with Jack still married to Sara, Charlie alive, and Sam living with Pete - and believe you, me - we are so not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy! The story moves through Seasons One and Two with some excellent characterisation and much enjoyment to be had by all.

Why This Must Be Read: Continuing the theme of great first-person POV stories, here's a lovely little Daniel first-person diamond. Daniel's voice is damned near impossible to do well, at least as evidenced by the multitudes who have made the valiant attempt and failed. Teand's Daniel is the king of the bizarre sub-reference, even in the most inappropriate of moments, and trying to follow the way his mind works is as distracting and entertaining as you might imagine it would be. I also have a particular fondness for stories where Daniel actually makes the first move; his deciding that the quickest way to Jack's heart is through hockey innuendo gets bonus points for creativity, as well as characterization. It's a great chuckle to round out the month.
