Walter watched for several minutes as they continued to stuff their vest pockets with various bits of gear, including ammo, explosives and detonators. What in the world are they doing? He knew they weren’t slated for any missions today, and the way they were acting made it clear that whatever they were doing, it wasn’t authorized. But then it hit him — they must be going after Apophis! Walter felt a wave of relief come over him. He hadn’t realized before now just how disappointed he was that the world was probably going to end.

Not so much devotion as the sheer rarity of Walter fic. "Oh, good, another fun Walter ficlet! That brings my total up to... two." Happily, one_prompt had a Walter theme, so we got this fic. :)
